The owner says T.scopulicola
it looks like a scop to me. At 63cm is this worth the $50(australian) hes asking? its got well developed roots and good health. I tried to bargain him but he wont change price.

maybe in different places of the world, cactus prices change. 50 Austr dollars are 33 euros. I guess it's too much. Even if it's big, just remember that species like this can archieve 20 cm growt in just one growing season. 20 euros would be the maximum i would offer for that , olnly if i were really intrested on the specimen of course.
My personal suggestion is to wait for a better deal.

Way to much. If he won't haggle then wait till you find something in a better price range. I can assure you he's not gonna be getting rid of that anytime soon.

I try to get the best deals. Some places give me free cuttings. When those cuttings grow, I plan to give back plants to the nurseries that helped me.

You probably wont find a better deal than this for a rooted plant. Trichocereus are commonly sold for between 0.75cents- $1Au per centimetre here in Australia, and that's usually for unrooted plants.

Maybe in the states this seems high but this is actually not a bad price. It could be sold for $60+ if the owner was greedy.

Not way too much. Read what I typed above. I can assure you if the OP doesn't buy it I will. If I only knew who has it.

Yeh that's true for cuttings here in Australia, about 75cent to a dollar per centimetre. Especially here in Western Australia where the quarantine laws are prohibitive of any live plant matter, and there's even $60 inspection fees for bringing seed interstate!

Well I ended up getting the scop, but got two extras.

Apparently the spiny one is a Bridgesii Monstrousa, but what's the other one?
And he's selling this beautiful Peruvians crest at $300, way outside my budget.

Gymnocalycium saglionis perhaps. Do the spines go red when wetted?
