First time shroom cultivator and user - help

Hey all. I'm completely, totally new to shrooming and cultivating shrooms. I've probably got this all arse about face but anyhow - I have a few questions if you wouldn't mind.
Last week I bought a supagrow kit of Cubensis Mexicane from Zamnesia. All has gone well and I now have mushrooms which are about 8-9 centimeters tall. My question is, when should I harvest them - the bottom of the stems are covered in a white powder which I assume to be fresh spores, right ??? but the fruit is still very much convex.
Also, when harvested is it best to eat them fresh or to dry them first? and which part should I eat? the stem, the fruit? or both?
What is a safe dose? both fresh and dry (for a mild trip as I'll be alone when I imbibe).
Lastly, how often should I eat shrooms? I was initially thinking once a week but have just seen some advice elsewhere which says once a month MAXIMUM :/

You should harvest them when the veil breaks, the white powder is a mystery cube spores are purple. They are stronger fresh but I think most of us dry them I'd say fan dry 24-48 hours and then buy some Damp Rid or desiccating gel to get them cracker dry. Eat the whole thing stem and cap. doses can range from 1-5 grams dry I have friends that eat one gram and they're happy where as I eat 5 so somewhere in the middle of that should be right. they are easier to dose when dry. Eat em as often as you like but once you've had a trip think you should wait a week due to tolerance.

This forum is for cultivation, not dosage recommendations. Also, there are MANY archived threads that have answered these questions over and over again. Spores are not white, so what you're describing is something else.
Harvest your mushrooms when the veil underneath the cap starts to tear. For further questions, please use the search function.

As often as you feel like. It really depends on how you plan to integrate each experience into your life and also how many obligations you have to attend to at the moment (school, work, family, etc.) IMO, If you are a busy person and are always stressed from work, then you shouldn't just take shrooms whenever you get the chance. You have to plan for each new experience and remember that set/setting determines the flow of the trip.

Also, when harvested is it best to eat them fresh or to dry them first? and which part should I eat? the stem, the fruit? or both? ----- you can do both dry/wet, but it is easier to dose with just one or the other. eat the whole shroom
What is a safe dose? both fresh and dry (for a mild trip as I'll be alone when I imbibe). ----- try 1-3 grams DRY or 10-25 grams fresh.
Lastly, how often should I eat shrooms? I was initially thinking once a week but have just seen some advice elsewhere which says once a month MAXIMUM :/ ----- as much as you want. your body builds a tolerance that lasts about a week, so every week. go with your gut

Many seasoned trippers including myself prefer consuming them fresh if possible, but when you have a lot you need to dry them for storage so you will wind up eating dry more often then fresh if you grow a lot. And as for how often: I would mainly suggest spacing your trips out about a week minimum just to ensure your trips are equally as powerful. If you eat mushrooms too frequently you will wind up gaining a tolerance which is definitely not something you want because then you will have to consume more just to get the same trip. That being said though waiting a month in between trips is far from necessary. Only wait that long in between trips if you want to.

I always had trouble with nausea...eating fresh (less nausea) or dried... But now I mix around a teaspoon (5ml) of ground or powdered Ginger (found in the spice isle of grocery stores) into some orange juice. No nausea!!!

I've always had problems with nausea when it came to eating dry mushrooms, but the main reason I strive to eat them fresh whenever possible is mainly because the trip seems more powerful and seems to have a better vibe to it. I usually only get the nausea when I'm trying to eat them though I can't recall it ever sticking around. I guess I'm lucky because I've tripped with friends who threw up and shit from the nausea post consumption

I prefer them fresh as well...the Ginger has worked wonders...just a little stomach uneasiness in the beginning, but I usually chalk that up to excitement/anxious to get the trip started. I once made tea, threw up, still had crazy visuals, but was in a normal headspace...very strange...lol

I think I will pick up some ginger for next time I trip with friends that way they have an option in case they start feeling sick.

It is definitely worth it...I'm thinking about putting some Ginger into capsules...or checking to see if they already exist.

Your questions re: when to pick and what the white powder--certainly not soores--is have been answered by better men than I. But I would like to congratulate you on having grown out the kit and gotten a potential harvest. A lot of folks can't bring those things to fruition. Next time you will probably want to make your own kit.
Also, re: How to take the mushrooms. I have had a lot of trouble with the taste of mushrooms, whether fresh or dry. I have had trips spoiled because of nausea. Therefore I do tea now, tea mixed with a lot of ginger and (tea) into which I squeeze about 7 drops of lemon essential oil--you can get it at Amazon.com. This lemon essential oil is good for the nausea that psilocybin's inhibition of the reuptake of 5-ht causes.

Looks like Ginger and Lemon oil will be on my shopping list this week then.
Also, I just a few minutes ago, harvested my shrooms. Got somewhere around 200 of them - mostly about 3 inches tall.
Thanks again guys

i've been growing mushrooms for abkuabout a year and a half now using strictly grain, verm and worm castings. recently decided to add some gypsum to the ingredient list as well. i moved my grow from a naturally well lit room to an upstairs closet with a lamp. i had 5 tubs going right now, i'm on the second flush and i see a bunch of tiny pins on all of the cakes, but hardly none of them are growing/grew. it's just covered in pins that arent doing anything. i fan twice a day, morning and night and lightly mist every time i fan.
any thoughts?

Also, OP, that white powder is probably the fuzzy feet (basically mycelium crawling up the base of the stem, caused by either low rates of fresh air exchange, or genetics). When it dries it rubs off as a white powder.
