So here's an update as promised.

EDIT: For some reason the pics don't work so here's an imgur album instead. LINK

I'm not 100% convinced this is just random mycelium growth, but perhaps it's this mycelium reacting to something in my air a certain way.

Looks like an okay pin set. maybe not as great as last time I grew em, but I'll take it.

Also a bonus comparison picture to a tub I have growing right next to this which was prepped in the exact same way.

Well I didn't get another photo because my wife harvested. It was 3.5 dry oz so I'm good with that. Second flush is pin in now so I'll update on that soon.

so you said your last tub with the badass wall to wall pinset had the same affliction? i dont see any on the harvested part of that tub though. did it just disappear like as the fruits grew bigger or did it come up when you were harvesting?

Dude that's stroma lol. Look at the way the mushrooms push the fluffy white growth up?

I had it on my cake:

It's worth noting that I have a Malabar syringe and it's contamed as fuck and all growth I get from it looks fucked from the get-go.

I bet the reason why the tub is so full is the stroma is acting like a casing layer :lmafo:

I'm pretty sure God2 is a puppet.

Not my puppet. I'm not new to this site and I'm not that concerned about this shit that I would pull that.

You are likely right.

Yeah it was not as crazy as this one to being with, but it was certainly there and in the same patterns. It basically was such a heavy pin set that it pushed it all up. We had some caps with the stuff on them.

I guess I don't know enough about Stroma to make the call myself. I picked a couple pieces off and played with it to see if I could tell what it was. Smells strong like mushroom, bruises blue and is meaty feeling. I don't know if that still fits into the Stroma category but it's just a weird thing.

Yeah bro, it's stroma

I'm surprised you're getting pinsets like that but honestly I really think it's acting like a casing layer.

Anyone have any suggestions? Or are they looking good

That is some insane aerial myc!

This occurs when you don't have enough FAE in your chamber. The mycelium is stretching to try to reach fresh air.

This is bacteria:

Notice how it looks different? Bacteria blobs up and aerial myc comes out in strands. A bacteria cake will still fruit given more time and the fruits from this cake are safe to eat.

Why has no one told him to eat it and report back yet?

I ate it and I am now gay.

In other news. I am pretty sure you fellas saying it's stroma are correct. I have never researched it and now that I've had some time, I have been able to pretty much confirm it. So thanks for the pointers everyone.

So my theory on why I got it on this strain is this. Both times I've grown it they were the first jars to be completely colonized. They were also the first tubs to be completely colonized. Since stroma happens when you wait too long to fruit, I'm guessing that I delayed too long with these tubs and waited for the others to become colonized when I should have just fruited this first and left the others to catch up.

So for those who are growing Malabar, keep an eye on your timing I guess because I have seen others have the issue with this variety and I'm guessing it may be the timing.

I pulled the clumps off the surcace of the tub and now it looks fairly normal. I am seeing pins starting already so hopefully it's not a loss.

Someone in another thread said that stroma is potent and you can eat it. Does anyone have any idea if that's bullshit?

Nah, I won't be eating it. Just made me wonder when I heard someone else talk about it. Seemed sketchy is all.

BTW, the GIF was representing me mid eating it and reading your comment. Wasn't meant to be a snarky comeback. Just a joke.

Peace.
