Is this a cube?
    #22034472 - 08/02/15 05:06 PM (8 years, 5 months ago)

I had a contaminated wbs jar that I poured out into a pot outside about 2 weeks about. I think the pot had potting soil in it but I'm not sure. Anyways this little guy sprouted out of there but it doesn't look like a cube? The cap is dark brown at the center and fades into a lighter brown the edg of the cap is dark black and the gills are black at the tips. The stem is almost string like. Could this be a cube?

Thanks lol I didn't think it would be. Just so odd that a different type of mushroom would pop up where I buried cube mycellium.

That's just about the most un-cube like mushroom I've ever seen.

Okay thank you. Do you think that they are growing from the jar I poured into that pot? Or just a coincidence?

If it was contaminated with a Parasola species, maybe. Otherwise it was probably already there, it's a very, very common mushroom.
