Guess it depends on what level of prison you're in, lower level prisons are not so bad, but when you get up to level 5 well that's a different story.

No i wouldnt
I agree. Just knowing the fact that I can do anything that I enjoy right now at this instance, I am happy with. I know it is cliche but money doesn't bring happiness.
Plus time is all relative ,really, you think now "oh 2 years really isn't that long it will fly by" but then locked up in a cell for 2 years having somebody else control your schedule well that would probably feel like eternity. Especially for the people who haven't experienced it already.

I'm trying to remember the "simple" rules to this thread and filling in all the other blanks myself.
Like most have probably said, if I'll remain relatively safe (it is prison so I guess that's no guarantee) and if I'm not a target for being raped, and I could probably defend myself just enough, then from that standpoint yes. Assuming it's not a maximum security prison with the worst criminals, life long prisoners, most violent inmates, etc. As someone said earlier in the thread if it more meant just being locked up for 2 years and living prison life without all the daily threats that go along with that I'd take this option in a heartbeat lol. For 20 million, I'd go to the hardest prison in the USA (not the world, I'd never opt to be like a tortured POW...) I'd want to learn some fighting skills and physically train though first.
I'm fairly strong/athletic, and pretty tough as well, but on the downside I have no fighting experience and I also hate confrontation and shit like that. I'd probably suck at walking around like some "tough guy" so I'd probably get singled out to fight pretty quick or something but provided I was prepared I'd fight for my life. If it turned out to be more of a boring but peaceful stay, then I wouldn't have all these distractions preventing me from practicing meditation and other personal skills lol.
This is actually a pretty funny question... like how it's exactly 2 years... cuz I predict that for literally the next 2 years of my life I'll be in a "prison" (not really of course) but just in a small way. So hell yea I'd do this...

See when people try to add these different list of requirements it makes the question invalid.
If i was the OP the basis for this question would be based on real life. Entering prison you are entering the unknown. Just like you would if you were actually going to prison there is no way of telling what would happen. How would you answer now?

@ Boomer - yea I hear you and I also entirely agree money doesn't buy happiness. If I already had a million bucks I wouldn't even think about doing that. But I am essentially poor right now, and honestly I don't like being poor.
It makes sense people have different answers and I respect other people answers. Personally I just know I'd be OK with putting life on hold, which probably isn't a good sign but it is what it is
I sure could really help myself and my family after I got out. I couldn't care less about the finer things in life, but I'd very much like to live a life of comfort and security, where I don't have to worry about paying rent/mortgage, internet, or for a decent meal. I'd also love to toss my parents like a hundred K, use some money to put a DP on a house of my sister's dreams, find cool little things to help other family members out with, and I'd also loveeee to travel. 'Twould be nice
** that was at your post above me, now the one you just posted **
Eh, sorry, hypotheticals are hard enough to answer lol. They're just hypotheticals in the first place. I only read the first page so I didn't see if he added any more rules, his OP just said "simple question" when it's not really quite so simple. I think he said closest prison to me or something. If I couldn't even research what that prison is and there was a chance I could be thrown in with the hardest, nastiest people around, and I couldn't prepare physically or mentally, nope.
I'm not sure if there's like an option to bow out if you don't wanna do it and just not get the money. I'll assume not. Honestly if you caught me on an angry or depressed day under the worst circumstances I may still say yes, bring it on, but more often than not if there's a chance I get a bad roll of the dice and it really sucks, I think I'll have to say no haha. I'm sure there's certain parts I can handle, but if I could possibly get the worst of it all, in every way, then no.

Yeah the only two rules I saw were what you mentioned the closest prison to you. And then also if you got extra time added for any reason you were disqualified. I understand where you are coming from about putting life on hold for 2 years for a large lump sum of money. Don't let my answer stray you from the fact that I thought long and hard about it before I gave an answer lol.
Let me throw this out there. What if the other prisoners knew you were only in there for the money.....

Exactly my point lol. Wouldn't matter if you didn't tell them, eventually they'll find out and word will spread and then you're going to get people fucking with you all the damn time just because you're going to get money for doing it.
So unless I can get my ass sent to solitary the entire time, I'm not doing it. I suppose you could take the gamble and go for hiring the biggest bad ass of the prison to protect you for a cut of the proceeds, but something tells me that arrangement wouldn't end up working out too well.

K I was being soft before but realistically that would be me ^^ who cares if they know I'm getting paid for it, nobody is gonna mess with me once I show them who's boss (jk lol). If everyone knew I was getting money and I was essentially on everyone's hit list, that doesn't sound like a very safe bet to try my luck in this "gameshow." It isn't actually that hard to get put into solitary though is it? I thought you can just ask for it if you have a reason, and that sometimes COs will even recommend certain inmates do that if they think they face increased danger. As shitty as prison is I don't think the staff WANT their prisoners to die. Most inmates don't usually want solitary, since it's more lonely of course and may hurt your reputation.

I'm pretty sure you can't just request solitary. MAYBE protective custody if you have a case for the request. Those aren't the same things though. Solitary is exactly what you conjure up when you think "solitary confinement". Protective custody is going to a unit with much closer monitoring and filled with low risk inmates (or LEOs, ex gang members who provide information, etc). I'm sure it's not the case for every prison, but this seems to be the general idea.
In solitary, you're mostly safe. The entire point is to separate you from all other prisoners and give you only limited interaction with the COs. PC could be kind of a gamble. A lot of those guys probably wouldn't want to be put back into GP and would be less inclined to fuck with you, but those guys are going to have the same urge to fuck with you once they know why you're there. So it's far from safe. People in prison aren't generally recognized for their level of forethought.
