Habitat: Cen. Cal. grassy park.
With this post I'm really hoping to figure out the difference between Panaeolus olivaceus, Panaeolina castaneifolia, and Panaeolina foenisecii. Any tips are very much appreciated. Thanks!

#9 -- The Lineup
I had them all seperated and organized right up until I kicked my bag and stepped on half the specimens -- oh well. Prints on the way.

If their jetblack like the top print then their all active panaeolus cinctulus. However the potency is an issue with them I find you need upwards of 50 shrooms to get the job done.

Actually, the top print is brownish-black (hard to tell from the bad light). I'm pretty sure that #1 is Panaeolina castaneifolia.
Thanks for the reply.

Just come on with the ultra tough questions :P I'm sure someone will be along to debate this, but lets start by saying Panaeolina castaneifolius is a depricated synonym of Paneaolus olivaceus http://www.indexfungorum.org/names/NamesRecord.asp?RecordID=457542
so you won't be able to tell them apart, they are the same thing. Panaeolus foenisecii has a pale tan to straw colored stem, sometimes with brownish shades. Most of your collections are not Pan foes.
After that it gets a lot harder. Are they panaeolus olivceus? Maybe, but the gestalt doesn't seem right for some of them. They are a little tall. Maybe they are Pan. acuminatus. Maybe they are Panaeolus fimicola. Maybe both of those names aren't particularly valid for US material

Thanks for the reply, nomendubium.
As for prints, all prints are jet black:

Based upon what I've read I think I know the answer to my question:
Get a microscope !?!?!?!?!?!?!

I think their all panaeolus cinctulus its just that many would be like a level 1 trip. When I pick panaeolus I dry them and wait till i've built up a lot then lemon tek them. But yes they look to me to be active panaeolus cinctulus their just not potent like cubes.
