Don't know what terrarium setup to select!!

So I am planing on growing some mushrooms but I don't know what terrarium setup to select. The terrarium will be in a basement so the air will contain a lot of dust particles so a shotgun terrarium will most likely help in the contamination of the cake. Also because it is a basement there is no power supply(I know it sounds stupid but there is no way to get electricity there because of the way the house was build). Anyway the temperature is ok (around 70F-80F) I just don't know what terrarium setup to select.(I will probably check the terrarium 3-4 times per day so it doesn't need to be an automatic one) anyways does any one of you guys know any terrarium setup that I can use ?

Make a shotgun fruiting chamber and mist/fan minimum 2 times daily. (click link and watch part 3 of video) http://www.mushroomvideos.com/BRF-Pf-Tek
SGFC will probably be fine in your basement, just make sure you elevate it for fresh air exchange. Temp should be on the cooler end of 70F. If push comes to shove and it's just not the best room for fruiting, move it to another location. As soon as you birth the cake it will be exposed to all contams in the immediate atmosphere. Unless your basement is really that dirty (you should clean it), it probably won't be an issue.

The myc of fully colonized cake is strong and contaminate resistant, the FAE of a SGFC will help also. There's more of a chance of a contaminant if they are closed up in a humid box with no FAE. Follow the link above and build a SGFC, your mushrooms will thank you. Is there a window in the basement? Can you run an extension cord?

Or you could get into making agar dishes and grain jars and save yourself the trouble of drilling hundreds holes in a sterilite tub, which in the end, your cakes will only produce maybe a third of what you could be pulling from a well-constructed monotub.

You don't need electricity for SGFC. But it's a good idea to have a window or some light. If it is completely dark, probably wouldn't be the best grow room dude. Using a different FC is not going to magically make the problem disappear. Making a SGFC isn't hard and it only takes about an hour to do tops.

Mushrooms will grow without light,(with piss poor results) and if you want to get technical they will grow without a fruiting chamber. People have fruited cakes on their table as a centerpiece for shits and giggles, but if you are going to invest time, money and resources why not make it optimal? A window or a 6500 k cfl 12/12.
