First time WBS... First time Contam...

Sadly It looks like I have green mold in one of my jars... It's my first time using Doc34's WBS tek. The only thing I did different was I didn't remove the floaters due to some other people saying they would be fine. The green only seems to be growing on the sunflower seeds in only one of the jars as of now. The green didn't show up until I shook the jar... I'm not sure if it was PC time because it's only one jar as of now. I feel like if it was the PC other jars would be the same. I'll have to keep watching them.
There was another factor I ran into as well... My jars were too big for the PC. So I laid them down. But I read that was ok to do. I think it actually caused more water to enter my jars.. Not sure if that's a factor.
BUT I KNOW I WILL NO LONGER LEAVE FLOATERS IN...
Anyways what would you guys do? Let it keep going and see what happens? Crumble it and throw it outside for a possibly yield ?

Looks like you have some bacteria too. How long did you PC them for? I do my grains for 140-180 mins depending how much I'm doing. 90 mins is the bare minimums and depending on your altitude you may need to run longer runs.

The WBS tek I used said 60mins... That's why... So I should try 90+ mins next time with WBS?
Do you think I should still remove the floaters?
I'm thinking next time I'll PC 90+ mins at 15psi and I'll remove the floaters for good measure.
Any thought on saving this jar? Or let it run its course and see what happens?
Thanks for the help!

Some mold is just easier to see when it's growing on sunflower seed hulls. That's all the more reason to leave the floaters in.

the other day I discovered I could use this strainer that fits into another pot for easily removing what ever is being boiled.. anyways I discovered that the wbs slips through those holes but keeps all the sunflower seeds and sticks and nut like things in my wbs.. I just shake it through that before soaking and then the little amount of floaters is easier to remove.

So I can't find a straight answer about leaving or removing floaters. In my research it shouldn't matter. That's why I left them in. Now I'm thInking my mistake had been not PCing long enough.

That's what I'll try next time.
Thanks all! I think I figured out what went wrong.

A jar that wasn't completely sterilized will have bacteria in it. Mold is so much more vulnerable to heat it's generally safe to assume that if you have mold in a jar it got in at some point after sterilization. If it's only a single jar it may be cross contamination that occurred during that particular inoculation.

Definitely what kizzle said. 130F for 30 minutes kills most molds. 90 minutes+ (I do 120) is because of bacteria. Without needing to worry about bacteria, you'd just do a pasteurization. As seen in bulk subs where bacteria isn't really a concern.
