hey guys
kinda computer illiterate here. was looking at VPN's and had questions about them
1. if i want to use the VPN just for shroomery, would i use a different browser just for that? for example, i use safari now, but if i paid for a VPN, would it be a good idea to use Chrome for shroomery only browsing? and then safari for anything else?
2. as i understand it, the VPN changes ur IP address, but does it change it to some place far away from me, or would it be just an IP address on the other side of town?
3. does it slow the connection down at all?
4. what happens to all my posts mae before i got the VPN? can they track IP address from previous posts?
sorry if the questions are stupid, i really tried digging but seems like there are many opinions. I'm not interested in trying Tor again for shroomery, was too slow.
thanks in advance!

1. Your choice of browser won't make much of a difference. Use what you like. Use InCognito (Private) mode if you don't want your browser to keep a history of what sites you have visited.
2. The IP address will be from whatever geographical region(s) the VPN service operates from. It shouldn't be difficult to find one with servers far away from your current geographical region.
3. Yes. You are routing your Internet requests through another server. This will cause some slowdowns but usually not nearly as slow as TOR.
4. The Shroomery more than likely logs IP addresses from all site visitors. All of your previous posts on the Shroomery have been logged with whatever IP address you had at the time. If anyone reading this has knowledge to the contrary then please feel free to share.
Be forewarned; most VPN services log all of your activity and keep it for a period of time. Most of them will not put up a fight if law enforcement were to ever ask for a log of your activity.

thanks for the info mate!
I'm actually trying to get the VPN for a local auction site i use. dude who started/runs the site put something up for sale, i bid and won, got the product, and it was not as pictured, or as described. i gave him a bad rating on the site, and he banned my IP. i was using shroomery as an example, but i was still curious about prior posts connected to IP, so i figured it was good example for my situation all around.

I see. Something else to think about; if you are subscribing for Internet service through an ISP as a residential customer then you more than likely have a dynamic IP address. What that means is that your IP address will change on a periodic basis. It usually takes several days to weeks before the address changes though. If you're not in a hurry to get back to the site and you have a dynamic IP address then just waiting it out may be a cheaper alternative for you.
