What's the best way to lower the ph of soil
    #22032325 - 08/02/15 07:44 AM (8 years, 5 months ago)

I have some quick sulfur (not aluminum sulfate) is this a good way to do it or is there a safer way?

Do some research on soil PH adjustment before you do too much. It's a lot trickier than most people think and it's easy to over correct because sometimes the corrections take longer to take place than people expect.

Using sulfur to lower soil pH is what most professional horticulturists do. If used correctly it's an effective way to lower the pH, and it's also fairly easy.

It depends on what type of soil you're trying to amend. Is it a garden bed or potting soil?

Also. Is the 'quick sulfur' made for garden use or for something else?

You can pick up a bottle of PH Down at just about any headshop that sells plant nutrients. Or just get it online. I use the General Hydroponics brand. It works great in soil as well. I can attest to that; I've used it for years.
