It's not hard.
It's inconvenient.
If it's not 1-click ordering from amazon there's very little chance I'll want jackshit to do with it.

http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2013/oct/29/bitcoin-forgotten-currency-norway-oslo-home
Summary: Dude bought $27 worth of BTC in its infancy because he was doing research on it (a thesis on encryption to be exact). That $27 netted him 5,000 bitcoins.
A couple of years went by and he had completely forgot about them. He heard about the currency again and it jogged his memory on the BTC he purchased a few years prior.
When he went back and checked his BTC wallet -- he now had $887 thousand dollars worth of bitcoin.
I bet you this happened to a loooot of people

I think at some point they hit a ceiling of $1,300 USD, which is incredible, but now they sit somewhere around $290-ish.
So since its ceiling it's dropped a grand & change per single bitcoin, which is fucking nuts.

I've heard of a couple legit businesses accepting bitcoins, but as far as accepting only bitcoin I think that is most likely a grey/black market. Who knows though, I'm sure the odd legit business that only accepts bitcoin exists, as is their right to do in my mind. I worry that the government will crack down at some point though, when people fuck with money and try to take that control out of their hands they'll pull out all the stops.

i had a bitcoin app on my phone and i was watching it rise daily by like $80 a day or something spastic. and i was sitting there thinking ' fuck, fuck fuck! i've gotta buy in now ', but to make an account at the former Mt. Gox you had to send all this verifcation stuff and transfer funds and there was all these delays, and i thought it would have crashed by then, or it was too risky.
aaaaaand it still kept climbing and climbing. and climbing. i fkn. i saw so much money fall through my hands. i should have just gone and done it man i could have easily made like 10s of thousands of dollars in bitcoins and had a house deposit out of it
could have boss walked out of my job for the year and told my boss to eat a bag of dicks and everything , finished my studies with a full income from bitcoins and not have to work or do shit

True, true. I don't know man, couldn't tell ya. I'm sure they have a reason though otherwise they'd be accepting debit & credit cards like any other legitimate online business.

same, even having to log into paypal or key in my details annoys me these days.
and for us new age cyber wizards its not much cos we understand it all, but the older generation would not go anywhere near bitcoin i dont think. talk to them about cryptocurrency and they would be bamboozled

There is either someone here or someone posted a link here.. But someone had around 1.5 mil of bitcoins on their account that they bought when it first came out (and they were dirt cheap) and through a series of other unfortunate circumstances, cannot retrieve the login information.
I dunno if I really believe it. Nothing at all on the interet is 100% secure, and with that much money, I'm sure you could find a grade A hacker to get you back into the account for a chance at getting a percentage of that money.

I'm just glad I didn't catch onto the whole RC thing when I was younger. I def would'a been down a couple toes by now. I would like some bitcoins but I can't think of anything I would do with them. Gamble maybe

i calculated at the tiem i could have made around 50 grand profit before tax on BTC if i got in when i was planning to with 10k, they increased 5x in value. the actual gain would prob be a bit less accounting for me being able to find a reasonable sale price and exchange rates and all that crap but still, easily would have made 30-40 grand for doing pretty much nothing

I know a way we can all get rich. Everyone send me 1BTC and I will start a list with everyone's name, then other people to join in our venture will just have to send 1BTC to everyone on the list and then they can start raking in the dough too.
