Contamination questions belong in the contamination forums.

Anyway regarding your question that doesn't look like any myc I know of.

Use this next time before asking a question witch I assume is a troll question. Even though its written towards cubes what you have there is shown in this thread. For the most part this is a good thread to follow.

I took a piece from a wild specimen and transferred to a new jar when I seen white mycelium I think growing from the pieces

If you are taking from the wild you want to be working with agar really. Wild mushrooms will always be carrying bacteria and mold. Even if you clean it and take external tissue you will still run into contamination and need to transfer it away. Agar is your best bet for that.

This easy agar tek is very popular

well on a positive note... it does look like possible reishi mycelium. the problem is when you use a paste and not agar it is not as easy to see the bacterial contaminants that are shown as a very minor different in colour sometimes. you have two options at this point.

1- reishi is typically a beast when it comes to devouring contamination. so you can use it and hope for the best.

2- transfer a wedge from that to agar and go from there.

Honestly... it it really is reishi then I would go against my better judgment and say do #1 either way. but at the same time prepare some agar (pastywhyte tek if your a beginner) and work on isolating it.

Hope this helps buddy.

It is possible, agar is of course best. I don't see any red flags, but the photo is rather unclear. Is everything uniform and nothing looks out of place? No overly fluffy whispy cotton like mycelium?

If it has depth to it, like more than a cm it is likely cobweb mold or a similar contam. Ganoderma mycelium tends to be rather flat.

My attempt to clone a wild ganoderma lobatum is looking almost identical to that.  I'm also guessing it's probably cobweb mold.

The only ways to really find out is to transfer a slither to peroxided agar or put a little H2O2 solution (or straight) on the BRF there and see.  If it survives, it's not cobweb mold.  If it doesn't, then cobweb mold.

I'm going to test mine tomorrow.  Keep it in a quarantine area until you find you for sure it's not cobweb mold.  I'll post the results from mine when I get a chance to check it.

Yea I might toss it I'm going to wait till I get into agar then give it a go again

Yeah, reishi has the flattest mycelium, i know no other species so flat growing. And the myc cannsometimes turn yellow/orange/brown on agar.

Fun fact, the yellowing of the mycelium is actually the formation of skin cells. Like what you would find on the mature fungus. This is a G.tsugae culture that turned yellow under the microscope.

Compared to cells isolated from the cutis of mature tsugae on the right.

So you think it's a sign of good fruiting ability?

A multiplineum i cloned in the netherlands turns yellow on every agarplate i have had it on pretty quickly.
