El Paso outdoor oyster grow

I took two spent trays of blue oysters on cardboard to my buddies house, mixed with 3.5 gal of soaked mulch, topped with pecan shells, which was the existing garden mulch, then pine needles to help with pinset. Its been raining almost every day here in El Paso which is a godsend for us. Looks like he got at least two pounds. He harvested when he discovered them while mowing. Spawn date was 4 july (he had BBQ), harvest 31 July.
The spent trays a few weeks ago,

Made the patch under a bush in his raised garden bed

This kitchen island is about 2 foot by 4 foot, and notice the fly swatter for scale

update, we placed 6 pails and 6 XL grow bags out in the same yard in two different locations, looks like a good 4 lbs.

Sounds like you found a good location, and a good system. Nice job!

Yea we are still perfecting it, crushed pecan shells and pine needles make for a PITA to clean. Were going to layer fresh mulch and unchopped hay on top for moisture instead of pine needles, should be easier to clean and less dirty. I went and sold half the harvest at market today, most was too dirty to sell. Total harvest was probably close to 6 lbs.

Nice! Do you have to water it in between spawn and harvest or do you have a system set up? I also assume that wall provides a lot of shade. I live in a pretty dry environment and stuff like this gives me hope!

Between the wall and row of pine trees along it there is full shade all day long. It's been raining here at night and he sprays them with the hose daily. Were looking to recomission an inop sprinkler hose on the garden bed and run that off a timer.
