My lion story * 2
    #22025250 - 07/31/15 05:16 PM (8 years, 5 months ago)

Inspired to tell this by a video Ballerium posted on facebook

So a friend and I in the mid seventies decided to go to Grand Island Amusement Park outside of BUffalo.  Well it wasn't quite open yet but the gate was so we went in to walk around.  There was a circus tent and I pulled a flap back to see what was inside.  What was inside was a fucking huge lion whose face was pointed right at me.  I mean he was right fucking there. He let out a huge roar at being disturbed.  I have smelled a lion's breath.  They kicked us out right after that.

i worked installing cameras and wifi hotspots in a small zoo in New Castle, PA called Living Treasures.

i got to get closer to the tigers than anyone in the park. the only thing separating me was a 1/8th inch mesh fence with 1 sq inch holes

i also had to climb to the top of that fence with a ladder to put up the 2 cameras.

the giraffe was even cooler, because i was allowed to walk around right next to him with no barrier. also was able to go up to the balcony and pet him and let him lick my face. he was adorable and was named Levi

there was also 2 baby porcupines and an enraged, overprotective mother we had to watch out for

Living Treasures was the best worksite ive ever been on i think, in terms of how fun it was. not pay though.

if anyones ever north of pittsburgh in New Castle, i highly reccomend visiting living treasures. its like 12$ for adults and 6$ for children. its a small operation but filled to the brim with exotics
