Weird because that's most of the festivals I go to. I guess I'm not a big social butterfly though. I usually come with my own stash of things I like and share. Maybe it's not as much of a West Coast thing then.

Just came back from a shitty festival this afternoon & so many people were doing K. These kids will do anything to get fucked up. Just watching these people made me say "wow" to myself. They all seemed like a bunch of lost causes. In the past I was somewhat interested in trying K if the opportunity arose but after seeing so many losers make a complete & utter ass out of themselves I've changed my mind.

doing stuff is one thing. it's another to come across people that at first seem cool, but come to find out they are not there to make friends or see music. just there to make money off of you.
i think i would like the burner scene more, as i've had a little taste from meeting some burners at the earthdance festival i went to. they are much more quick to help someone out and kind of just give things away.
met one dude that was near the food vendors and it was starting to rain pretty hard out. he gave us this candle and said "don't let it go out! make sure you make it to the gate without it going out!" or something like that, it was funny to us at the time. later on, our friend got his jeep stuck in the mud and he helped us out by giving us some rope for me to yank him out of the mud. real friendly guy.

Yep, it's just one big money making scheme. $5 breakfast sandwiches, $10 cheeseburgers, $3 cups of coffee. Talk about highway robbery... The food is more expensive than sit down places for god sake. I've given enough festivals a chance (in my region of the country) and they are all the same. This way just my last summer of festivals, I've thrown my hat in the ring.

Honestly, I've never been to rainbow gathering. By no means am I saying that all festivals out there are shit but I genuinely think that a lot are just ways for the organizers to squeeze as much money as they possibly can out of people that go.

Maybe just our enthusiasm bubble has popped? I think the more times you go, the more you start to see the ugly side of it all. I would say that from an attendance and growth point of view, the festival bubble has not popped. At least not here on the West Coast. Look at EDC, Coachella, BM, etc. They are all doing just fine.
I'm thinking about going to Portugal for Boom Fest next year. Sounds kinda cool and I've never been to Europe.

i mean to an extent youre totally right
but at the same time its undeniable, festivals are bigger than theyve ever been, so many new random ass fests are popping up nowadays too and like they do it cuz its hot and possibly an easy cash grab...so many of these fests just dont care about the integrity of the fest, its just money
fests that ive been to for the last 5 years have changed drastically

I hate to break it to you, but I think the majority of big fests have been about the money from the getco. That's why I plug small/mid fests so often, there's a much better family vibe there - always has been.
There are always going to be exceptions in both cases. For instance burning man has held its integrity very well from what I have gathered. And I'm sure there's small fests with bad vibes / money hungry owners.

I love festivals. This will be the first year in a long time that I haven't been to one because I'm saving money to move. I don't think festivals are that expensive. You can bring in pretty much whatever you want so you don't have to buy their food or drinks. I even sneak my own liquor into the concert areas. The only things I really pay for is admission and a poster. Sometimes I'll get some pizza if I feel like my food is spoiled or something.
The festival season bubble definitely hasn't popped yet. This year we had Fare Thee Well, Magnaball, Lockn, and a bunch of other good fests.

My first and only K experience was at an underground house EDM rave.
Ahhh, good times. K is awesome, in a weird way .

Every person that I talked to & saw on K at the festival I just came back from looked & acted like they were autistic. It was just weird to see someone in that state. Obviously they didn't give a shit & I shouldn't have either but it just got to me for some reason. It made me think to myself that I can't let my drug use go any farther than what it is now.

I did a shitload of acid mushrooms and K at a fest last year wandered around all night completely spun out then eventually passed out on a chair in some random tent
I remember waking up with the most peculiar amnesia thinking "How the fuck did I get here?"

Yikes...
Two things that should not be allowed at ANY festivals: Kids & Dogs. LEAVE THEM AT HOME WITH A FAMILY MEMBER!

I don't agree with that
I've seen lots of kids and dogs at the fests I've gone to and they have a fun time too

i got to meet my niece at a festival this year, i am pretty stoked about that. i'll have to disagree there, unless the person with said kids or dogs is too irresponsible to keep after them and care. then they should probably not have dogs or kids in the firstplace.
