went out for a christmas walk through the arboretum yesterday and found these (among others...stupid upload limit)
a small clump of cyanescens

growing on a tree

whats this guy? looked like a cubensis at first glance

very nice finds!!
the last pic is a species i've been seeing alot just in the last couple of weeks. i have no idea what it is and i thought cubensis at first, too! my only guess is something in the Amanita genus.

thats what i thought too, amanita but it has blackish charcoal colored gills

hmmm... well my mycology knowledge is not very deep past actives, so I'm really not sure on this one, but if someone figures it out def. please share because I've been seeing these everywhere.

NNo. You are right it is Stropharia ambigua.
mj Nice score by thye way.
Rare int he arboretum for about four years or so.
Now you find some. Went on a long walk twice this year from 29th and Madison all the way to the U hospital. again. good score.

heres a gill shot of that last shroom...there were others, with amanita style caps (wide, flying saucer style)

And i found thise nasty little guy in a piney bush
