Minimonotub has small fruits: pics
    #22022862 - 07/31/15 01:46 AM (8 years, 5 months ago)

So my minimonotub is already in fruiting and has small fruits that are unveiling quiet small, so breif back round, I had 2 quarts of wbs cambodian spawn that where let be for a couple months and started pinning inside. I prepared the substrate using damions5050 tek just scaled it down as I had 2 jars of spawn. I didnt break up the spawn as good as I could of when spawning to bulk, then I put a little bit of substrate for casing layer. I then duct taped the holes but a garbage bag over it and left it on a shelf in my room at 75°

It never reached full colinization, condensation disappeared soon after fruiting and after a couple weeks I saw pins so I took off the bag, introduced light and stuffed the 3 substrate level holes tightly with poly fill and the top holes loosly, but where did I go wrong now I have small fruits

It's not casing layer but a top layer of substrate to cover the grains.  Good job on doing that.  Never leave grains exposed.

Probably because of the grain spawn you used. It is best to use a spawn jar soon after 100% colonization.  Sounds like you missed that window by a few weeks.  The mycelium was already pinning in the jars, it wanted fruit not be spawned.

I stopped using black garbage bags.  I felt like it trapped too much heat and created a heat bomb of sorts.  I replaced the garbage back with a clean towel and draped it over the tubs only to block out daylight.

I think you probably went wrong with the spawn you used though.

Don't expand this to other jars, probably got a bunch of bacteria riding along.

No need to do this, could contribute to possible bacteria problems again.

If it was me, I would give it a good watering, then open up all the holes for maximum fae.

I see that cap is splitting, but don't think its necessarily from low humidity.  I think your mycilium is weak and probably fighting with some kind of competitor.  Your fruits will love the fresh air, might let it give a flush before being taken over by bacteria.

If it never colonized completly its either bacteria or the sub is too wet. Both of those things can cause small fruits. I suspect bacteria simply because of the age of the spawn.

6 holes on the bottom is a lot for a mini mono. Gonna be hard to dial in. Could be why you're getting premature veils breaking.

Split caps are never from low humidity, cracks on caps are.

Split caps are from rapid growth...

All in all I had a pretty good first flush of a little bit over 100 grams wet, im assuming because my substrate is a bit un even not to mention that im having inconsistent maturing times although they matured with in a day of each other.

After I harvented the last of matured fruits I still had many pins with Dark heads, convinced that I would produce more pins on the next flush I pulled out the most prominent pins hoping they wouldn't rot or something being dunked, did I do wrong or will I produce more pins, also wondering if spores would inhibit growth as I did fail to catch a few fruits from dropping them.
