Check out this link and go to the 9th row. This dude Fahtster stacked cakes like a boss.
Personally, I'd birth them all at once when they are ready.
I don't see in problem in stacking different varieties together besides the fact that you may want to remember which is which in case you want to take a clone or a print. Otherwise a cube is a cube.
It looks like he did a monotub setup. I assume they would be alright in a sgfc too but let's see how a more experienced user feels about that

If you have 20 cakes why not spawn to bulk? Here's a 10 cake mono I have going right now

If you do do this, don't "crumble"- I used a cheese grater and the results were amazing

Seriously, spawning to bulk in a mono is super easy, and takes way less effort than fruiting in SGFC (no misting or fanning needed). You'll get more weight for the amount of spawn you use too.
Seriously just pick up a $12 tote and a $5 brick of coir. Pasteurize the coir, dial in your mono, and see the wonders.
20 cakes would at least need to sgfc' if not more to work properly. This is my first true bulk and the experience has been wonderfully rewarding. If you are still apprehensive, bulk half and fruit half so you know you'll still have fruits.
I promise you it will be worth it.

you could spawn to a tray and it'll do fine in your sgfc

I've gotten more than 4-5oz from 1 flush of a tub that was contaminated. Even if its contaminated, its still likely you will get something.
I never did PF tek. I just read for many weeks and put my big boy pants on and got a couple monos going.

Check out PastyWhyte's "How to dial in monos like a boss" Damion50/50's bulk pasteurization and "How Frank Gets His Shit Done". You don't need to case. Just grate up 10 of your cakes to a 2:1 or 3:1 bulk ratio. Mix up your pasteurized coir/Verm or whatever you choose as your sub really well with the grated up cakes. I have been seriously impressed with my tub- only about a week to colonize, and it's only been a day in fruiting today.

Trust me- if you enjoy growing cakes, seeing them take over and explode on a big patch is so rediculously rewarding. I love my babies and seeing what they are capable of makes me a proud parent.

Here's what I'm running now: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21965161
The smaller number is your spawn. The larger your sub for ratios. Mine was about 1:2.5.
Can't remember the page but you want 6 about 1.25 inch holes, two near the top on the small sides under the handle and 4 along the top of the substrate level along the long side each one about a quarter distance away from the corner.

I suggest reading more. You spawn to bulk in open air with no gloves, letting the tub sit around while colonizing is not an extra vector for contam. I like having a higher spawn ratio, usually 1:1.5, or even 1:1.
The ratio is spawn:bulk sub. Example: a 1:1.5 ratio means 1qt spawn for every 1.5qt bulk sub.
You just add all your bulk sub, then all your spawn, and mix thoroughly throughout the monotub. Wait, wait, wait. Then fruit.
Monos are for lazy people, that's why I like em Once you induce fruiting, you shouldn't have to lay a single finger on it until harvest.

Depends on spawn ratio. Higher spawn ratio colonizes faster.
I'd wait a week after spawning, and check it every couple days after that. Just wait for everything to be nice and white on top. Some people wait until they see pins before they remove the tape, I've had success both ways. Replace the taped up holes with polyfill, and introduce your lights. Check the tub after you induce fruiting every so often to ensure its properly dialed in.
