there is no admission price for a CD or Television.

i find a CD on the street, i'm not returning it to it's rightful owner, the label, no, i'm keeping it. i go to my local coffee chop, i'm not paying them for watching their cable...or a friends.

jerks just want more money. sorry but you can't have all the money you think you're owed. nobody can.

When I was in college we had an all fiber-optic file sharing network that was insanely fast (~1gig/s if I remember right from within the college, and maybe 200-800mb/s between other colleges) and had absolutely everything (music, games, utilities, movies) easily searchable.  Lots of people didn't segregate their shared files, I assume they just didn't know any better as this was all new to most people, so you could easily just poke around on other people's hard drives  which was interesting.

That beat the pants off Napster.  It was run on a program called i2hub.  I just accumulated shit that I didn't need though, somewhere I probably still have old hard drives filled with pre 2004 porn, music, and games, but now I just pay for my shit  I just enjoy things more that way for some reason, especially since so many of the games are small developers who are really making an effort to break away from traditional means of distribution and that is something I want to support.  I wouldn't feel right playing if I didn't pay.

When I was in college we had TI 100s.  They were the bees knees.

i wouldn't either i had the money.

i don't feel bad about downloading though. it's not really hurting anyone , other then those whom i frankly couldn't give a fuck if they topple, which they won't, they'll just push out another Taylor Swift and boom, they recoup.

but if could i'd buy my shit too...right now, i can't, so i use Netflix, i still have a bunch of movies i haven't watched yet, that i've DL'd long time ago. but i try not to download movies (they are watched and i don't use VPN's or anything, never had too) but not just because it's kinda iffy and you could get a warning/strike, but i just would simply like to avoid downloading it, simply because i have a surplus already. not for any moral obligation. though there are things i'd really LOVE to support, even after having watched/listened/played it, i'd still buy it to own it and the packaging and any extra's...though i just simply can't afford to most of the time. i have so much music, i don't need to DL any but if i wanted to i wouldn't feel bad either, being that i couldn't buy all the music  i like ever anyways...i thought i might try and buy my favorite albums from my favorite artists, when i could, and especially on Vinyl when i get a turntable and set-up for playing them...but mostly 'till then, i'd probably just buy it online anyways, but if i'm gonna do that, then there's no point with any of the music i have already DL'd, unless it's something i don't have, which is not a whole lot.

i still wouldn't feel bad anyways. they can come to Canada, and i'll go see them live, and they'll get fan support. otherwise, lets hope your world-wide sales are even a dent in what it cost to produce the album, because otherwise, you don't get diddly-squat from shit...especially from me; even if you put out like fifty albums, dude, i'm not gonna buy them all. KISS can make a a few million each off an album because they have retarded fans that'll buy every single piece of KISS they can, so they can say they have it. not most bands at all can, however.

or just put the clap down on the interweb, whatever. i try not to DL when i can buy because i want the total product and want to vote with my money, but how rare is that, i ask myself...i usually don't find anything that worth it. Netflix and Youtube are my friends. broadcasting is a feral enterprise. am i paying for some radio station to broadcast the Beatles for me? no. they just do. so am i stealing from them?

either clap down the interwebs, or deal with the gray area. people don't want to waste their money on something that isn't assured or that they'll get tired of. it's just simply the way we work. so people will continue to support the means they have to see outside of said grey area and get a good look at what they might seemingly want to buy. broadcasting sucks. art sucks. business sucks. life sucks.

there is no moral ground being tread here.
