Wow cloudy thanks for the reply. That is a wicked primordial shot brother! So about a week after full colonization is when I should start to see the primordial forming. Are those the contaminated ones that are dark on top? Those look gnarly as hell. A testament to the sheer power of reishi metabolites!
I'm glad to see someone else doing bottles. I don't see how people don't see how great bottle cultures really are!

Though these ones were my attempts with sawdust instead of pure grain, which was not worth the extra effort to prepare the sawdust compared to just grain. But I was trying new species and wanted to do them on wood instead of grain in case of failure.
Top Left. Unknown South American Black Ganoderma, Top right, Ganoderma resinaceum s.l. Aloha SCL "lucidum" Lower Left, My Ganoderma sessile. Lower right, Ganoderma curtisii.
Very nice. I wonder, would it make sense to use grain, wbs or maybe rye berries, with maybe an admixture of shredded hard wood? Say 7 parts grain to 3 parts hardwood. Wouldn't that facilitate full fruiting? I would like to do this in one operation--inoculate the jars with a spore syringe--maybe from Sporeworks--then when those jars are colonized, get them where they need to be to make complete mushrooms, conks and all.
I don't think with reishi it would do anything "beneficial" to use a mix - as far as I've seen. The only thing a mix is good for is saving money. I am currently doing the exact thing you're asking so I can save you the trouble... unless you want to have fun too! hahaha!
I'm doing about 1/8th hard winter wheat berries to scotts mulch. I have some left over from some oyster grows. Luckily I have stumbled apon the city wood chip lot... which happens to be... wait for it...
LESS THEN A KILOMETER AWAY FROM MY FRONT DOOR!
and the best part is nobody even uses any of it at all! PILES AND PILES AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN SEEE!!!! I FOUND HEAVEN! I will share photos later on when I get a chance to walk by!

City wood chip lot? I didn't know cities have such things. I will have to ask around and see what we have in this town. Maybe the park district has a dump somewhere.

yea buddy! Its funny because the city claims that there is no such place... yet on the front gate it clearly states that the public can access it during the week t all times except a few hours when the city workers are dumping fresh chips and don't want you in their way.
I stood on a pile today that was so big that that I actually accessed the lot by climbing it - which basically had already swallowed the fence whole.
If you dig a few inches you get these beautiful dark steamy chips that smell amazing! so big it will probably compost for ages! Not to mention the puff-ball I accidentally stepped on that way 2 the length of my foot (24").

Off topic but if I made a reishi culture and there was old cube mycelium that didn't get fully rinsed but then got pressure cooked is it possible that it will regrow over the reishi culture

No.
