That depends on where he's at. Some places don't have bondsmen, so you pay the entire amount. If it were $100,000 like in some places, almost nobody would be able to bond out.

Growing around his children and telling them to keep his growing magic mushrooms a secret might well have been his undoing.
That should actually be added to the list of blatent no no's. Dont grow around kids.

Mushroom growers, ayahuasca brewers, cannabis cultavators, should bee seen as revered and respected positions in society.
Growing and eating a plant is not a crime, psychedelics are not addictive, they are not dangerous, and they have spiritual and medicinal significance.
Though you can make money off of them, it's nothing like cocaine or heroin money...people are not getting all that rich off these things, since its against the law they are basically getting compensated for their risk they are taking, without ever getting very rich...
If your not hurting or victimizing anybody, your not doing anything wrong, and if your giving people access to psychedelics your actually providing a community service.

I didn't fully read this story, so I don't now how involved the kids really were...
While I can't agree with growing around children, it was just mushrooms, and so long as the children could not access and accidentally ingest it, they would probably not be in any danger...
Telling their kids may have been a mistake, it was defiantly irresponsible...
...but I also believe our children should be told the truth, you should sit down and explain what these things are, if you come from a marijuana family, as a kid your told the truth at some point, it becomes part of your culture, and of parents want to raise their kids in shamanic plant using culture, so long as the kids are not in any danger, shouldn't they have the right to?
I live in Colorado, there's children in dispensaries with their parents, some stores have a little daycare section to drop your kids while you get your meds (marijuana)
The first time I saw marijuana I was 4 or 5 years old, our family would go to new Mexico for "rendezvous", we would all dress as native Americans (most were native Americans, there were only a few white and mixed families) and live in teepee's...I'm still not sure what the point of it was, I'll have to ask my mom, but I remember seeing some old Indians passing around an odd cigarette, they would also burn sage and smudge the kids with sage, and I thought the cigarette smelled like sage, so I remember asking him "are you trying to smudge your insides?" They laughed... it was not until I was older that I realized I had mistaken the smell of marijuana for sage...it did not damage me in any way though, I really didn't even make much of it, kids don't put much thought into such things...
In the book 1984 they would make children Into spies, rewarding them for turning their parents in...they could even say "I heard him say down with big brother in his sleep" and you would get hauled in.
Did you know when I was I D.A.R.E. class in 4th-5th grade, they actually told the kids "if your parents have marijuana, or your brothers and sisters, come tell us, we will even leave a box for you to drop notes into in case you don't want to tell us face to face" ...even as a child I was appalled, our 5th grade teacher made us read animal farm and 1984, so even then I made this association...
It was after that point I left public schools for an amazing alternative school, there were no dress-codes, couches instead of desks, all teachers were called by their first name, the students made the rules, we would go on cross country trips and camping trips...they figured you read book about Chaco canyon, you probably won't absorb much, if you GO to Chaco canyon it becomes a life experience, a deep memory, a great way to REALLY learn...(but this is all beside the point, sorry I got off topic)
Heroin and cocaine (the CIA distributed drugs), or methamphetamine should never be around children, this isn't a culture, it's a community of people suffering from destructive compulsion, addiction...but with psychedelic plants I think the laws against them are culture control...they can't make being weird, or a shaman, or a non-Christian, or a paychonaut illegal, so they make their harmless cultural practices into crimes...It's been going on since the Spanish found new would natives using these same psychedelics...
