Catching a car thief isn't even close to important enough to justify a high speed chase that endangers public safety.

Did you even read my post? I said we shouldn't have harsh punishments for minor things, that way people don't have to run from the pigs and cause situations like this. How is that not benevolent?

Also, they have these things called helicopters. They can chase a car whilst NOT posing a threat to innocent drivers.

have you considered telling that to the car thieves, maybe you should require thieves to slow the fuck down in their high speed police chases, I mean if the thieves would pull over, accept their arrests then we wouldnt have these fatal car crashes... let us know how all that works out for you

What if the car thief just committed rape or murder? Still let them drive off into the sunset.
Shouldn't the burden of a high speed chase be on the criminal, not law enforcement? Running from the cops is against the law!

how long does it take to prep a helicopter for flight?
how long does it take for the cops to have eyes on a suspect before the helicopter can pick up the pursuit? can you tell us what the license plate, the make, model or year of a vehicle is from 1000 feet in the air when you're over it?

Helicopters can't spot a car and keep their eyes on it, without cops having to drive crazy behind them and out peoples lives in danger? That's weird

Yep. Better than him possibly killing innocent people and preventing the property damage that is almost certain to result from a chase. It's a no brainer.

really cool plan, so no more car chases, so criminals can just run from police repeatedly, long as your in the car, no need to worry about laws being enforced

Cops are hardly out of control when compared to criminals.
You bitch about a few bad apples and lump them as a whole when it comes to police but can't possibly think that way with criminals.

You do good police work. Part of that is not putting people in jeopardy by engaging in high speed car chases.

I'm not bitching about a few bad apples. The culture of many police departments is criminally corrupt.
