Woodlover slurry
    #22014987 - 07/29/15 01:05 PM (8 years, 6 months ago)

We all know LI or lc cannot just be sprayed about outdoors and hope to accomplish anything but what about a semi large amount of woodlover grain slurry spread on a freshly prepared bed?

People have ground brf cakes to do this so I don't see why it wouldn't work unless the exposed grain would get contaminated to the point that the myc got overrun.

To combat this why not slurry, then wait 4-5 days for it to recover and recolonize everything and then blend again?

Try it. Not sure how wood will react with the added moisture. If it were oysters id say not necessary bc they are so fast to colonize bulk and grain just by g2g.

Yeah but to be able to inoculate a whole bed instead of having to expand and expand and expand and wait forever.

No we don't! People do this all the time with success.

Seen it done and successfully have done it myself.
Just read a post yterday of someone grinding up a pf cake with water and using it to inoculate other jars.

We pick fresh cyans remove their stem butts,  blend them in tap water,  and pour it in suitable areas. Works all the time

The fruit slurry is proven but not spraying lc and LI around, that's what I was asking for a source.

Maybe it was a misunderstanding.

I'm of the belief that a plain liquid solution is much more vulnerable to drying and such and won't leap off very well whereas a milkshake like slurry still has myc attached to particles and is thicker to support the myc longer until it can leap off

Or some shit like that lol

Right. So that answers my Q in the op. I was only asking for a source that spraying lc around worked.

the slurry may be too thick unless you build a very wide tube to distribute it with some type of gun. at least the pf jar slurries are the thickest like mud. the grain jar slurries aren't too bad. but i can see the line getting clogged up pretty easily. even with liquid culture ive heard stories about those guns getting clogged.

but where there is a will, there is a way.

I could have sworn that I replied with a few examples.
I have done it with success. Works better with some species than others. Works great with oysters.
Works okay with wood lovers.
The main problem is that you might think an area is suitable for the mushroom, but the mushroom might disagree

You wouldn't need any kind of distribution devices.  Just pour the slurry on the spots where you want it.  After all you are inoculating outside after all.  :pipesmoke:

Mix up a pile of slurry and pour.   QED
