Datura indoor

Hi folks,
today I was given a living Datura inoxia plant as a present from my gf. It is about 40cm/15" tall, but it has developed branches and leaves only at the very top (maybe others have been cut?).
-
 -
It is my very first nighshade plant. I know it's a one-year-plant and it will die in winter, but untill then I want it to grow as big as somehow possible. Where do I have to put the plant so that it develops more leaves? In the shade, or direct sunlight? I have eastern- and western-faced windows only, so direct sunlight is only available from late afternoon till dusk, or during the very first morning hours. -
Any help is appreciated. Greetz, Pandemoon

Beautiful Plant and Flower...
and awesome photos! I often have chairs near my Cactus-Collection (cacti) so I can sit down and smoke a Cigarette and enjoy their beauty!

Maybe the pot is to small, little gal is root bound.
I would collect the seed pods (thorn apple) from pasture lands in the past, was always fun.

If you want to get the most out of it, put it in the ground outside if possible.
Otherwise, put it into a bigger pot.
Datura's grow thick lateral carrot-like roots, and they like a lot of space.
They can tolerate a lot of sun, so full sun/part shade is ideal.

Gotta love Datura flowers. Hard to beat them. Thanks for posting. I still remember the first ones I grew.

Yeah they are a beautiful plant (especially the flowers needless to say). In certain parts in my area it grows wild, and I"m like wow it hasn't rained at all for weeks. I should seriously try to get a photograph of some of the flowering Daturas growing wild in my area. Because the wild ones can be HUGE AT TIMES
I'm talking about Datura here in this post of mine (NOT Brugmansia!)
Peace out!

Thanks for the answers!
It has been in an even smaller pot, about 3.5 inches of height and diameter, when I first got it.
I think I have to buy a bigger pot and will repot it again by the end of the week.
It has already developed new shoots of leaves and also what seems to be a new small flower. The one pictured above is already dead / withered. It has been open for one and a half days.
