Yes he did. I always thought these trophy hunters were egotistical assholes and this guy is getting vilified. I believe he had to tell his patients to get another dentist. But it is kind of horseshit. The real criminals are the farmer and the guide. He relied on them to keep him out of trouble. They failed.
I believe this guy got in trouble hunting once before in regard to the improper taking of a black bear

Not quite true, I think, I've seen documentaries of African people spearing elephants to death in large groups and shit. Elephants, even fucking HIPPOS, which are the world's most dangerous animals.
hahaha... once more, you know nothing about hunting. yes, hippos can kill you but they arent even close tot he most dangerous in africa, much less the world. cape buffalo are the most dangerous of the big 5 for game hunters
Uhhhh, hippos are actually the number 1 killer of humans in Africa
not even close.
still, that doesnt make them the most dangerous, if we do base it on that then the Mosquito is the most dangerous animal in africa, or man. both have killed far more than the hippos have. cape buffalo are known to break from a run and pursue you, they're higly protective of the herd, especially the young and they'll come after you if they catch wind of you

She said Africa
http://goafrica.about.com/od/africasafariguide/tp/dangerousanimals.htm
Mosquitos themselves don't kill anybody.

ONE MORE TIME... IT IS NOT ILLEGAL IN ZIMBABWE TO HUNT OVER BAIT
you guys seem to be applying the US laws to other countries

Still reminiscent of the "wild Africa" of a bygone era, game is plentiful. All of the plains game species abound here, as well as the Big Five. If you are keen to hunt Zimbabwe for elephant, the country is home to an estimated 100 000 of the world's largest land mammal. Lion and leopard hunting is still open here and the success rate is high. Hunting Zimbabwe for the big cats is done exclusively over bait and it is of note that cheetah can also be taken here. A word of caution - while cheetah can be taken, their import into some countries of the world is prohibited. In addition to the Big Five, if you come to hunt Zimbabwe for hippo or croc, you will not be disappointed. These two aquatic dwellers abound in Zim's rivers and pans, and can be counted upon to make for an interesting hunt.

Dewd theres no way those guides shoulda been anywhere near that preserve i mean I'm not sure they didnt intentionally kill that lion knowing it was cecil thinking they would get away with poaching it. these were like pro guides man. How many 13 year old lions with a black mane do u think this guy sees walking around the property? Dont u think he'd have recognized that famous lion?

I wonder what would happen if we started feeding already dead human carcasses out to wild animals (carnivores obviously) that were in danger of extinction due to starvation?
Come to think of it that sounds like a really bad idea, cause then they'd acquire a taste for human flesh… but what if we were to just leave out expired or rotten meat that people would simply throw away anyway?
I mean, I heard that a lot of these animals have the digestive system that is built for raw or almost decomposed meat. Their immune systems are designed to be able to handle it.
Seems like a win-win. Leave expired meat for the carnivores. Less elk/deer/gazelle/zebra/whatever else would be killed by these carnivores. Animal conservation all-around.

typically it's the older predators that start going after humans, they arent fast enough to catch many of the other animals, losing teeth so humans become a lot more appealing because we're tender, slow and mostly defenseless

But that does not take into account the circle of life. Lions wouldn't be lions if they didn't compete for their resources, and it benefits the all the animals to allow natural selection to decide who survives and who does not. Man in his arrogance has gone and screwed that all up, and it doesn't look like we're capable of fixing it at least as far as the lions are concerned.

can you tell one lion from the next? neither can the dentist, as has already been said, he was reliant on the guides to do shit legally

this just in:

Quote:
Trump Doubles Down in Support of Hunter
New York (Fox News) Donald J. Trump issued a statement in support of the euthanasia of a man eating lion killed in Muslim Africa earlier this week.
Dr.Walter Palmer noted hunter and tea party activist killed the monster responsible for over 40 rumored deaths. It was known to locals as CECIL the LION.
An autopsy on the big cat showed it had high levels of THC the active chemical in marijuana,in it's blood.Dr.Motobu Kubooloo of the African National Dangerous Animals Association said it probably ate marijuana plants in the wild and became addicted to them.Marijuana is known to make lions violent and unpredictable, just as in humans.
"I think that lion was addicted to the pot",Kubooloo told Fox news,"thank God and Jesus for Dr.Palmer.He saved us all from that crazy beast."
Trump was criticized on Twitter by high profile liberals who think lions should be allowed to roam free and eat people.Trump shot back by countering his own sons were big game hunters and applauded the Doctor for his impressive kill.
Trump said he would pay and legal fees the doctor may incur fighting Obama's "gun grabbing state department regulations",Trump said,"when this is over,I'm taking him out for pizza with myself and Sarah Palin."
The doctor is also in hot water with the United Nations Agenda 21 Compliance Committee as international gun treaties forbid Americans from taking their weapons into other countries.
"Look,it's Africa, lions eat people over there. They aren't kitty cats.",Trump told Sean Hannity in a phone interview,"if it wasn't for Christian American hunters helping those Africans what would they do? Throw spears at the things?"
"It makes perfect sense man",comedienne and pro drug advocate Tommy Chong said on his blog,"cats love weed.Ever smelled catnip? It's pot for cats.Seriously,Google it."

Yeah, I guess if you're using a .22, but with hunting rifles there is no way a bow is deadlier.
You would have to be an expert, close to professional bowman in order to hunt wild game with a bow and arrow. Considering you have to aim for the heart hundreds of feet away...
I agree. All an arrow does it go through the animal. Many times the animal doesn't even know it's been hit. It just leaves a hole through the animal from which they bleed out
A high powered hunting rifle such as let's just say a 300 ultra mag. It also leaves a hole but that isn't the only damage it does. When it hits the animal it's like a freight train hitting it. You can shoot a deer in the the center of it's neck with a bow and it'll run off, with a rifle it'll fall where it stands. The deer is being killed by the shock of the bullet hitting it.
Hunters like bows because of the skill level required. It's in no way even close to as deadly as a high powered rifle. This isn't even up for argument.
-------------------- Nothing I write on Shroomery's message boards or in private messages are true. I am fucking crazy and I make all this shit up because I can.
Why would anyone want Mac or Windows? Windows never quits shoving updates down your throat and Mac is just so expensive for the same exact hardware that's in a PC. Go Linux.
