I am a musician and I use to experience this any time I would play a piece of music with other musicians and we were in sync. I would like to also state that 8-9 months ago I started growing mushies and eating a ton. Ever since the asmr happens even if I get a positive thought or idea that synthesizes my existence. Also rock opera such as wax fang does it every time songs like (mejestic,wwpt2,sweet bloody murder) also bands like Tool that have harsh or rocky beginning that culminate into psychedelic or soft ambient sounds. The transitions and breakdowns make my head crazy tingle. Just weird that since my using of mushies it is more pronounced, especially hearing poly rhythms during a trip softer bands like Dave Matthews band and grateful dead. Today is my first time looking into it and I am very surprised there is no definitive answer.

Thanks for reviving this thread, I forgot the name for that tingling I feel when I listen to a great guitar solo in the right place of an epic song : )

Guys, I need to BUMP this. But I have an interesting theory that connects the tingling feeling we feel on acid and ASMR.
To start off, I am a frequent ASMR user. I listen to ASMR videos every day because it soothes me, and connects me more with myself (as juvenile as just a video of some teenage girl muffling inaudible shit to my ears is anyway). I have found that when I meditate while I trip on acid, I can connect more with that lovey, joy, hope feeling we all get when we do something genuinely altruistic.
And the more I think about hugging terrorists, or embracing my fear of spiders when I trip, the more I get in contact with this unlimited source of energy. Kinda similar to tapping into an ocean of knowledge, personal growth, and PURE GENUINE love for mankind. And every time I get there, simply just by closing my eyes and embracing my inner hippy, I achieve a RUSH of ASMR, the kind that puts you over because of its overwhelming embrace.
In short, I think ASMR is just a nod towards that divine source of love that we all can tap into, if you try hard enough. You'll find the more you let go, the more you elevate. The more you let go and embrace all the hatred you've culminated in your soul with complete and utter love, the more ASMR you'll feel.

I personally think it's a reaction to certain frequencies working in tandem with visual ques.
The mind enjoys seeing things work together.
I didn't realise until after this post and discussing it with a friend who studied music tech at university that I could get this awesome feeling pretty much on que.
This guy can be quite annoying but I also feel the asmr he does is MUCH more effective for me personally. Whenever I watch/listen to the women ones they just either do nothing at all to me or make me focus in on the fact they just sound erotic trying to whisper (NOT WHAT ASMR IS).
P.s Use some good headphones, full screen and with your monitor fairly close (so the L/R on screen relays to your headphones).
P.P.S I have a feeling i'll end up marrying someone who naturally induces it in me, like, why wouldn't you spend your life with someone who you physically enjoy listening to aswell as mentally?

Hey teenagehippy, believe it or not, he was the first ASMR artist I ever got into, and listened to all his whispering and good motivational shit under his breath. His ASMR inaudible whispering videos made me venture out elsewhere for inaudible whispers. So that's where I've been at.
