So guys, I did actually try it this morning.
Taste: You don't really see the difference to be honest. If you told me it was just regular coffee I would have believed you.
Energy: I went to work and I gotta say, I didn't feel the normal fatigue I generally feel. I work early mornings. Funny thing is, I dind't realize it until I saw this thread. I was in fact more awake than usual. Or its 100% placebo, either or.
So yeah, basically you're not ruing your coffee. It still tastes like coffee..

The taste is pleasant it just makes it richer and smoother and creamier. And fat provides long lasting energy.

Yes personally I do. I recommend putting coconut oil into your coffee each morning, and also a little grass fed butter.
But it depends, there is no one size fits all diet. I personally favor a high protein, high fat, high vegetable and fruit, low carb and low sugar diet, based on simple, natural ingredients, avoiding processed foods, trans fats and artificial sweetners.
I believe starting the day with fat is ideal. So first thing each morning a cup of coffee with coconut oil and grass fed butter is a great thing IMO. Ideally have that with a few eggs- start the day with protein and fat
Remember- its not fat that makes you fat, its carbs, sugar and lack of exercise. The only fat to be afraid of is trans fat.

All those things are true of cream as well though, no? What's preferable about using butter? Seems like cream mixes in a lot better.

Yes all those things are true of cream as well. I don't know for sure that butter is better then cream, its just become a fad of sorts and trying it I liked it. But better then butter or cream from a health perspective is coconut oil.

Moonshoe said: Read up on Bulletproof coffee. It was a big fad for a while involving adding grass fed butter and MCT oil to coffee, but apparently has since been debunked and discredited.
Still, adding coconut oil , grass fed butter or raw cacao to coffee is nice and has health benefits for some.
Honestly try making 50/50 coffee with raw cacao its divine and uber healthy. Add some coconut oil and some honey and you have a super health beverage.
these are claims only supported by the woonatics at places such as live strong and natural news and it's these retarded claims that are aiding in the loss of hundreds of hectares of rain forest each day and the extermination of cacao
is this the kind of shit that you're choosing to believe is nutritional information?
butter doesnt eat grass by the way, cows do and dairy cattle do eat grass

So eating butter in your coffee somehow increases the amount of cattle raising land in South America? I think people are gonna eat beef regaurdless Pris. I could be wrong, but fuck I'm Texan, without eating beef most would starve here.

Why is it that everytime something new happens you go a say that it's made up shit from loonies or something?
What if (cause it just might happen) they are atually right and it is good for you?
Have you ever considered that possibility?

Anytime there is a post on the Shroomery about diet and/or nutrition I get a big laugh. People seem to dismiss something they haven't heard of as a "fad" pretty quickly. I personally don't put butter in my coffee, but I do eat a lot of grass fed butter for the same reasons people put in their coffee. Adding a healthy amount of grass fed butter to your diet is almost always a good thing. And lol, it's not going to make you fat either.
I first heard of the idea through the paleo diet and crossfit communities. The concept behind this is that by eating a clean low carb diet, your body starts deriving its energy from fats instead of carbohydrates. This is when your body starts producing keytones to make the needed energy instead of relying on glucose for energy. The keytones break down body fat into usable energy to keep you going. In modern diets, people rarely (if ever) produce keytones due to the amount of sugars and carbohydrates in standard western diets. The old adage from the 60's that "fat is bad" is changing as new research is consistently finding that increasing healthy fats and proteins in our diets is leading to an overall increase in health and wellbeing.
The paleo diet, low carb diets, and local whole food diets are certainly gaining popularity like the other fad diet programs out there. The big different though is there is real science and a lot of evidence to back up what the leaders in these movements are saying. There is a lot of biochemistry and endocrinology studies being done with some great backing data for those that take the time to research it. Things like the Ancestral Health Symposium always spark great debate and conversation within the community.
What I like most about these movements is the people don't evangelize anything. They almost all found their way to low carb, paleo, etc, by necessity of the other conventional approaches not working. So the leaders in these movements are constantly debating and looking at new science and improving their research. If there is legit supporting evidence, these scientists almost always take it into account instead of being dogmatic with their own ideologies.

There definitely does seem to be a fad element to it. Adding milk fat to coffee in the form of cream is already commonplace, but switch it with butter and it will change your life somehow.

Speaking of peanut butter.
Peanut butter sandwiches. That used to be a fad. It caught on. Everybody is doing it and if you use jam that isn't loaded with sugar, its actually healthy
