Why do you trip?
    #22008304 - 07/28/15 07:49 AM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Hello guys,

A while ago I experienced a bad trip while on LSD. Because of this experience I've laid down psychedelics for a while to gain understanding about what happened. I've been going over my memories time and time again and learning more and more about why I had that bad trip.

Short time ago I realized that one of the questions I repeatedly asked my sitter while I was on the edge of going bad was: ''Why am I doing this? Am I dumb?''. Before this bad trip my reason to trip was pretty childish. I just wanted to know what a mushroom/LSD trip felt like. Then I wanted to see more and more pretty colors and shapes. I realize now that my last trip showed me that this is not what tripping is about.

I'm curious now. This is a question for the somewhat more experienced trippers: Why do you take psychedelics? What are your criteria before you decide to go tripping?

I take them to think outside the box and find creative ways of making my life better. The only things on my checklist is a healthy meal and lots of water first.

They'll teach you don't they? Most of us have been there.

Psychedelics lock you up with your unconciousness. The more you do them, the deeper you delve.
At first you'll only be able to scratch the surface of your unconciousness. Then gradually you move deeper and deeper until your own subconciousness no longer harbors any secrets. You can then move on to delve into the collective unconciousness. There really is no limit.

You asked: "Why am I doing this?"

That's a very good question. You are drawn to psychs for a reason. That reason is most likely subconciouss. It will reveal itself if your interest remains.

After years and years of tripping I realised I kept tripping because it allowed me to feel something. I kept running from my emotions in daily life and psychedelics cracked all of those feelings open.

Your reason is probably different.

All you need in approaching a trip is respect for the substance. It is so much more than a light show. It is a tool to delve into your subconciousness. It knows you better than you know yourself.

Recognise it as a teacher and be open to whatever it throws at you. That is all you need. It always gives you the trip you need rather than the trip you want...

....Brother!....tools NOT toys.... if you want pretty colors and s*** just stick to the synthetics or research chemicals! But when it comes to the real deal the flesh of the gods? Bow down and pray with humility! Accept their blessings and give yourself unto the mushroom! Commune with the mushroom and let them know that you trust them and wherever they want to take you that you trust their message!

... when you come back to psychedelics and mushrooms in particular make sure you fill your intent with meaningful things like learning more about yourself or bringing more love and light to the world!

....Intent is key!

.... and get to nature for your mushroom trips!

I want to have greater wisdom, not just to know more...  Although it seems with honest work/ play/ exploration both may be gained.

It's impossible to BS myself.

After trips I sometimes feel people have that as their base level but just BS (belief system) themselves into confining reality tunnels.

Like many people are playing games and forget they aren't this character they create.  I sense unlimited potential and wisdom rippling beneath the surface of everyday interaction.

I microdose to help shift the fabric of my environment back to natural intelligence and influence the whole for positive ends.

--------------------
Favorite entheogen experiences in descending order:
1)Combo of oral DMT + smoked Bufotenine
2)Amanita (urine drank twice)
3)Mushrooms > Achuma 16"+cid(still need higher dose Achuma)> Cid (still need high dose)
4)Morning Glory-HBWR (+cumin, cinnamon aldehyde adducts) > Methyl chavicol (need more activators)
5)Salvia (need to try quid)

All readable matter in the above post is ficticious... any similarities to real life are purely coincidental.

Blessing.

Could not describe it better myself. This is the same exact reason, well, except of the part of the emotions. In my end, I feel like at home, it recharges my batteries and give me amazing insight for my own health/life as well as other“s.

I personally don't believe in bad trips. I believe you have the trip you were meant too. And all results from a good or bad trip are always good. Or the lessons you learn are good I should say.

I trip to expand my consciousness. To widen and change my perception on the world around me and most of all my self.

I mainly trip for perspective shifting and cognitive enhancement, but it's also a social experience for me. I like to analyze the effects of a drug to understand and integrate it better. I've been able recognize psychedelic aesthetics in the everyday world and appreciate things more fully because of my trips. Many psychedelics, particularly LSD, I've found to be amazing problem solving and creative tools.

Others in this thread above have already said it so well above...

For me personally, tripping allows me to delve into my thoughts and consciousness and sort through the mental clutter to see things with much better clarity. It allows you to look at life, relationships, fears, aspirations, insecurities, desires etc. from a completely different dimension of thought and to cut through the 'trivial things' that you normally obsess over to see what's truly important in life.

It's almost like super-charged thinking on a higher-level and can allow you to approach problems from a completely different angle that the sober mind just cannot comprehend. After a strong trip I feel refreshed, alive and more compassionate than before I tripped. It is truly a complete mental reset!

I also love the moment when you reach that higher level and become 'connected to' or 'one with everything' so to speak. I will never forget my first ever strong trip when a good friend who was also tripping hard said two sentences which encapsulated everything I was feeling at the time -"Everything is nothing, and nothing is everything" and "It just is". Indeed!

Everyone has their own reasons though and in the end there is no right or wrong answer. I think the important thing is to learn from your experiences and try to apply what you learn into everyday life. Remember, not everyone has this wonderful opportunity for personal growth or insight! :peace:

Because it's an unexplainable mystery which pushes far beyond anything you thought possible.
It links you into something much greater then life it's self, something so complex that even though we feel like we have the answers it shows you that we are far from even scratching the surface

Awesome replies! This will definitely help me find new insights during my next trip whenever that may be. Cheers

I think that for me the next step is to explore the next level of unconsciousness which I already met during my last trip. However, I didn't expect to go that deep and I wasn't prepared for it, so I started resisting it, which ofcourse is the last thing I should have done.

Getting excited again

Yeah whatever you fight gets stronger. That's actually true in real life situations as well. I once had an acid trip where that message really hit home while I listened to this song:

I felt the actual mechanism of resisting (complaining against) something and it multiplying and growing stronger.

Towards the end of the song I was like: "nah, I'm good... I'll just let it be"

tripping is like vacation. except instead of spending lots of money on travel, place to stay, food & entertainment tripping is nearly free if you grow your own + you could bring anyone you wanted. :smirk:
