Are their sub species for Clathrus columnatus? I found these today... very small (1.5' tall) orange to pale yellow/orange (top to bottom) sw fla. Haven't seen these before...

Oh ok. In that case check out Pseudocolus fusiformis, which is very similar. I'll qoute Kuo for the differences: "Clathrus columnatus is somewhat similar, but its arms do not arise from a shared stem, and the slime is only under the fused tips of arms."

If you dig around in the dirt you may find the eggs, like the good Doctor (ghosty) has on his signature.

Hmmm, there we go. that seems to be a pretty good match! Thanks, midnight! And DG: mykes, mary and I are trying to figure out a little foray, I'd love to have you come too, as would they im sure. I was thinking of taking everyone to my Chanterelle spot, with the promise no one will rape it afterwards lol I joke, I joke. But if you're interested, you're more than welcome, brotha!
And midnight, you KNOW I'd love to have you join us also but you're a bit far... I think. If you're close enough, you're most definitely invited as well!!

Awesome, just facebook me when you get the details. I'll be there as long as there aren't any schedule conflicts.

Thanks, I'm over on the "treasure coast". I'd like to join sometime, depends on when/how far though.
