Of course. The U.S. got into bed with Saddam because he was
fighting Iran. The U.S. and Iran did not and do not like each
other.

So what. That was 20 years ago.

Amazing what becomes clear with hindsight.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers

In those days we didn't know that it's not cool to gas thousands of people?

Yes. I'll also be happy when Ronald Reagan's administration is tried for war crimes for helping the guy.

Seriously, if Saddam's past crimes against humanity is how people justify this war, then why aren't we leading Reagan's clan to the the gallows? They are guilty of assisted genocide.

How much and what kind of help did we give him exactly? Were we helping HIM or were we helping IRAQ?

We've given weapons to many nations that used them, as we intended, against mutual enemies. He didn't use them just that way, he used them to gas his own people.

If I gave you a gun to protect yourself from a mutual enemy that was raiding your house, then you shot your kids with that gun after I had left, would it be my fault?
Follow up, wouldn't I have a moral obligation to remove the gun from your ownership?

" the enemy of my enemy is my friend"

Iran was the greater threat 20 years ago.

What about Russia and the US fighting against the axis powers in WWII. They were temp. "friends" to fight a common enemy. I believe Gen Patton wanted to mar ch right into Moscow and take out the commies after Germany was dealt with but Truman said no.

There are two ways to get to the top of an oak tree: start climbing or sit on an acorn.

Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?

The Reagan administration didn't assist Saddam when he gassed the
Kurds. It merely looked the other way and ignored the incident
because it was convenient to do so.

You and I are both waiting for his answers to these questions. Hopefully we won't have to wait long.
