Cloning question

I plan on starting a new grow by cloning some of my pins. If I do so my questions are what tek is best for cloning and how should I go about the actually cloning.

Probably best to start the spores on agar. This way you know you have rizamorphic myc. Start several cultures and do small casings to determine potency and yeild of fruits. You can clone or you can just have kept a wedge of your original cultures.

Don't listen to this. To clone you simply tear your fruit in half and aseptically take a tissue sample from the core.
You can drop a pin on agar but you will have to transfer a few times likely.

This. RR has a video on it.

You can but I've never liked this method. Pins want to roll around on the agar. If you just take a little wedge of flesh you can put it in the divot that was made in the agar while cooling the scalpel.
I also like to clone from the inside of the cap instead of the stem. It's a smaller target most of the time, but the texture isn't so stringy.

I am not familiar with using agar. Is it really as simple as dropping the tissue in and letting it do its thing? I appreciate all of the help!

Also what cultivation tek is best for clones? Sorry if this seems like common sense.

this is one of the ways I cultivate for the sole purpose of getting a clone.

Bad information and incorrect use of cultivation vocabulary.

It requires sterile technique but yes, it's basically that simple. Tissue samples from the inside of the base of the fruit/pin are cleanest and most rigorous.

No, his info was right. And nothing was misused. Rhizomorphic is misspelled.

"Do small casings to determine potency"
Casings don't determine potency, they help maintain a microclimate at the sub surface.

So simple yet so helpful! Ugh I get so annoyed trying to take tissue from the stem. It's like peeling the top of a celery stalk.

Yeah that's exactly why I don't do that anymore except with sterile agar pins sometimes. You're screwed if it rolls out of place, bacteria colonies popping up everywhere so it's pretty much impossible to isolate any clean mycelium. It only has to occur a few times and then it's "Fuck this!"

To be fair its really easy to make a divot when you cool your scalpel. But indeed, if it rolls its game over.

A tray can be referred to as a casing. Has been for years.

True. I've been working under the assumption though that it's best to minimize the area of the pin that will be touching the agar during that kind of transfer as it minimizes the chance of any mold spores on the pin coming into direct contact with the agar where they'd be able to germinate.
