I have looked around every place i can think of, sheep fields, gold courses, just fields in general & am unable to find anything am i looking at the right time? i was out yesterday, should i of waited till today or should i be looking straight after a rain fall?
Same problem here mate, also in the Northants area. Been looking locally for the past 3 years with no luck, starting to think they either dont grow around here, or I'm being beaten to them! Ha!
I think it's been too warm and dry around our parts so far this season, the conditions seem perfect this week though, so I'm gonna have a little look after work tonight. I reckon the next few days and the weekend would be a great time to hunt... I'll let you know if I find anything!
I should add that I am a very inexperienced hunter, I've been lurking around these boards and researching shrooms (mainly Liberty Caps) for the past few years, and I just wanna say a quick thanks to The Shroomery community for all the great info. I havent actually managed to find any Libs yet, but I'm 90% sure I could identify one now thanks to this site (obviously I would get confirmation before eating any mushroom!)

Not me i would imagine it to be good , what is in the powder ? is it just the whole fruit dried and ground ? thanks.
I found and ate a full cap on sunday 9.30pm and then found and ate another one on Monday about 10m , no tripping as such but great trance like feeling in which i played a guitar for 3 or 4 hours , wonderful , now i can dose up a bit more cant wait.

the new spot i found lastnight had loads shrivelled up (rain had turned them into a black goo, aswel as loads sprouting ... which musta ment they were around right at the beginning of the season... - i think this year has been great weather wise 2bh for them and i live in east anglia - which is a mild place compared to the north obv!...... your just not looking in correct places - i mean u could have a huge field and only have a small side of it containing them .. also check horse fields that have more than one fields - a field next door (pre grazed but un used) will more than likely contain libz - start around the edges around 2 meters from the fence. good luck

Oh really?! It just seems like there hasnt been enough moisture, but I guess we've had quite alot of fog/mist recently. That gives me more confidence now I know they're definitely fruiting around here though, I'm gonna follow your advice and go on a little hunt tonight, and a proper one at the weekend. Cheers for your help mate!

Glad I had a little outing now got to my spot and went to the same part of the field as last time but there wasn't much there so I headed up towards a gate to another nice looking field and stumbled across the first of many shrooms sprouting up after the resent rain. I found nearly all of today's haul about an hour or two searching an area of something like a 30m radius circle, it's so nice to find so many in a small space although when your not sure where to put your feet incase you step on any balance can be an issue....managed to gather up 207 lovely shrooms (62g wet). Tonight should be fun unless it goes horribly wrong like my last go

Here's one for the pro's. I know libs are random fuckers, but if you're in a location with ideal conditions, good grass length, shit and also loads of other species does that normally indicate the area has simply been picked out in all likelyhood?

So I was on my way home about an hour ago, found a couple libs on my local spot and found that one had a decently sized cap on it but had what I'd describe as a knuckle similar to that found on a plant or tree that's branch broke and healed and carried on.. Anyone else had this before? can be seen in the first picture. http://i.imgur.com/Q52Seoq.jpg http://i.imgur.com/PfVZYDr.jpg
Also for those that wanted to see my spot and hopefully it will be encouraging to those that can't find anything and are traveling far with no hope, this is a less than 5minute walk and as you can see is in a housing estate! It doesn't fit the common habitat but it does put them out along with other species! http://i.imgur.com/ZLw25AO.jpg

No sadly not pal. Notice no nipple and how the bigger ones have bands of colour on the cap. The colour of the caps and stem is wrong but they are one of the most common mushroom to find when lib hunting in my experience.

So went back to last years spot and was happy to see some libs popping up. Must have seen around 20 babies but felt it would be best to just let them mature a bit.
Its going to be an interesting season in this field, grass was a lot longer last year but the sheep have come in and mowed the lawn a bit, thankful the farmer moved them onto another field a month prior to now.
Probably leave it until this weekend to have another look.

Sounds about right.. You can often see signs that other people have been in the fields, by indents in grass etc.. If you're only finding a few in ideal conditions I'd say its been picked dry, if you're finding 0 however they might just not be there
