Listening to the advice on looking for Ps. Cyanescens in areas with wood chips I went into my local woodland area hoping that the high amount of wood there would suffice. No luck...I saw about 3-4 different types of mushrooms but no Ps. Cyan's.
I checked moss, grass, around trees, fallen trees, AND EVEN wood chippings from trees being cut down...
I was a bit confused about the last one I thought the woodchippings would be ideal but I guess it doesnt have the necessary incredients because they were pure wood (recently cut).

Was checking a local lib patch that happens to back on to a formal garden about a week ago which has been mulched with chippings almost annually. Where the grassland gives way to the chipped borders, nestling amongst some Epilobium....

Hello beautiful! All a wee bit dry with the weather we've had but an unexpected bonus.

Hi there. Could these be liberty caps? Couldn't seem to find the "separable gelatinous pellicle" which has been mentioned elsewhere.

Thanks! May I ask how you determined that they are not liberty caps?

Like PsyMindz86 said the tone and texture are wrong, also the size and shape of the caps and the stems are not con-formative to what libs are. Libs bruise a blueish colour, and you can see the blue colour showing on the picture PsyMindz86 linked. You will know when you see one if you've done your research, they are very distinctive.

Had a nice day and night of rain so headed out to my local patch in the housing estate around 12 and found these, larger than my last finds and fresher with a different structure, the spores dropped that are left on the stalk are purple and gills a chocolate to purple colour varying to each one, I'm not sure about the far left one in the first picture though and another along with that, if someone could ID them in all photos that would be grand and if other pictures are needed let me know! If not it'll probably end up in the bin as better safe than sorry! Numbers seem to have gone up too, anyone else experienced that in the Yorkshire area, not defining which part for obvious reasons but yeah let me know your input on that http://i.imgur.com/3HVK6Qy.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Z891OHk.jpg http://i.imgur.com/1ymdD5O.jpg

Pretty sure these are Galerina sp. and likely to be toxic.

My habitat is actually a patch of grass at the side of a path leading through a housing estate! I had searched high and low with no luck earlier this season and then I stumbled upon it by accident while walking with a friend of mine who's also a picker a couple week or a month back! its no bigger than 6x4m and home to a lot of species, passed often by dog walkers I'll get a picture tomorrow or when I can! I have a field with 2 cows and a horse and another with 14 sheep but they have been on there a month so I'm not gunna bother with that and just check the cows and horses next week!

I'm going to add to the confusion and say from the texture (radial-fibrous) of the cap and the slightly swollen base that you have an Inocybe sp. I'm assuming you found them in grassland? And is the spore print a rusty brown?

You're probably right with Inocybe to be honest, i just tend to stay away from anything with gold gills n caps like that, lots of Galerina have all these features, i didn't notice the younger ones, i think you're spot on.

I'm the same man... anything that looks like it's going to drop rusty spores in grassland; I walk away. Although wouldn't mind getting a scope and learning to ID some of the active Conocybe that's around.
It's always a bit iffy trying to ID from pics as well, makes me a bit nervous. Might need a disclaimer in my signature.
