Hi all, first time picker here living down in south west Cornwall. Just a couple of questions, 1, do I have to wait for a certain temperature around Cornwall before they start growing or do I have to wait for the rain then sun? I don't want to miss out but I don't know if they are in the correct growing conditions.. This leads on to my next question, has anyone actually been spotted in Cornwall? Or do they grow a little later than up north? Please help! I don't want to be walking around fields if I don't need to be searching yet! Thanks for the help

I don't really have one, because I'm not biased either way. I suppose for most people their opinion depends how scientifically minded they are. Some will like to think they are special for some reason and others will think that they aren't and the fact they contain a chemical that has a specific effect on our brain is just a coicidence. And i suppose a whole spectrum in between.

Not much i can find on them Mycena cyanorrhiza except one terrible trip report and a suggested name for another species, unless some one is prepared to test their chemical makeup then i wouldn't bother with them.
Wiki says
Quote:
Mycena cyanorrhiza is a small white psychotropic mushroom which has a blue base. It grows in forests on wood and has a white spore print.
It is sometimes reported to contain psilocybin, however it has no record of use as a hallucinogen and its edibility is unknown.
-------------------- I give you the choice of 2 pills.
With each containing one of the following: Cyanide... Psilocin... Would you take the risk? Didn't think so. This is why Positive Identification prior to consumption is important.

I don't think they (or any mushrooms) are "conscious" in the same way we are. I don't think they have eyes, a brain or even blood. They seem basically like reproducing tissue. You might consider the possibility that they (the liberty caps) provide you with a "higher" consciousness. My best explanation is that the psychoactive compounds somewhat removes (or messes up) the "filters" of one's senses. The "message" you get is in you, not the mushroom.
And I think that the urge to return to the "mushroom" state of mind is somewhat fuelled by not knowing what is actually happening.

You could do what I'm doing and just go for a scouting trip every other evening or so, I've checked a few fields that seem absolutely perfect but no shrooms, apart from some tasty non actives :p this way you can't miss the season plus you'll have lots of fields you can visit, I'm almost certain it's a bit early for the south, I have heard of finds in Devon though. Tl:Dr just keep looking, I'm second time picker if you count the handful I got last year.. Good luck!

that magic time of year again peeps!!! from east Anglia - Lowestoft greeting all! im looking forward to going back to my spots, getting excited... tends to be around the 20th of sept all the way thru mid December (depending if mild winter I guess) as for someone's question about do they have consciousness.... I believe they do.. I believe we enter the eyes of whatever psilocybin is... network grids of information, beautiful shamanic voyages thru the eyes of a native, yeh for sure the chemical is almost a fundamental part of the "whole" as is dmt as is serotonin -just that its not really understood ,they are beautifully hindu/mayan for me also, it comes across to me as an ally of nature ina sort of magical way, cubensis on the other hand can be very ruthless at least for me they were - although it was a heavy dose at a young age..changed me forever - yes there is an underworld and yes its real .... anyways back on topic , loving the finds so far people! enjoy the walks in the autumn sun!!!

went on another hunt today in a sheepfield at around 220m, no libs to be found, there were parts of the field though fruiting other mushrooms(that look to be some of the types mentioned in the nordic photography book) so im thinking its one to check back into after some rain, it has been very dry where I am

Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster, I am eager to find some strong spots and have scoured the local area, I don't have a car so i am pretty limited, however up the local woods today we was all in a nice little clearing having a small (safe) fire and i went for a little hunt and found five of what appear to be libs! If someone could confirm them though that would be great thanks!
