My guy was trippin for sure with the statuses on FB over day in the NE.

Could of been dry like but i doubt it, they usually just munch the lot.

They're out there it's the habitat honestly, some places look perfect but have no mycelium. It's just getting that one spot with a nice little flush then you know you're in a big spore deposit area and there will be more.

Blazeyy, you got some very nice Turner-esque habitat shots there, and nice find as well!

Hi All,

Newbie here. I am going to go "walking" this weekend. I live not too far from Blazeyy who seems to have a good topology of the area. (Atherton). Nothing in the fields around here at the moment but presumably that's because of the altitude? Only 100m. Rivington would be a good place to start I guess? Around 200-300m? Plenty of sheep... any tips from you Blazeyy would be greatly appreciated. Any finds I will upload pics...

Thanks in advance.

Rivington would be a great place to start as it's also part of the West Pennine Moors, which, in my opinion is the best 90 square miles of landmass in GM, it's like 50% lib habitat.

Is anyone here from the Essex area?
I went picking last year for ages and got loads of shrooms, worst thing is I ended up throwing them all away due to lack of confidence in what they were in case I got really ill or died!

Looking to try again this year with some.people that know what they are looking for if anyone fancies it. Do any of you guys meet up on here??

Rob

Hey guys,

First time poster, ive been lurking for around 6 months now, after having my first dutch truffle experience, decided to go out today on my first proper hunt.

I was searching in a  forestry area in the south east of ireland, I encountered a few different types of mushroom during the day.

The first one I discovered under some tree's where there was very little grass, these didnt look like shrooms one bit so i just snapped a quick photo and carried one, around the same time I noticed a little forest ranger zipping around on a quad bike so i went into stealth mode.

I have no idea what the next mushroom is either, but i grabbed a few specimens because it was pretty enough, not active that i know of either.

does anyone know what these above mushrooms are?

so next up I walk into the grassy bit i had been moving towards, the grass is fairly long here and i see these heads just popping out, one mushroom at least looked to be dying, it hadnt rained in a few days, so i assumed that was fineand these were the last ones, I was also slightly paranoid about the forest ranger who had just driven past my bike at the same time.

but i grabbed what i could see, now first off, apologies for the poorness of these last few pics, I threw the mushrooms into a plastic container, which i did not realise would make them sweat a little and become mushy. I tried to get a spore print too but the mushrooms were already in this mushy state.

are these libs or just lib lookalikes, they looked quiet libby when i picked them but too late to tell now? when i opened the container I got the smell of fresh mushrooms, similar to that of edible mushrooms, the purple ones didnt have this smell when i opened the plastic box (and they didnt turn to mush either) and i couldnt notice any purple bruising

EDIT: these seem to home these little clear wormy things, Dont think these ones are for eating :frown:

So I headed for my local spots the other day but only found around two alot of other random mushrooms are out though , so my question is has anyone in the england found a decent load lately and are they starting to bloom? , its just spinning me out because last year they wernt out around here until the end of sept and more in oct just hoping my spots havnt died out and im missing the season  :/

Rob,

I know what you mean, i'm sure plenty of people will be willing, i know in my experience it's been hard doing this alone, it's really hard work covering the amount of ground i cover, plus i feel i'm missing a lot because i simply cannot cover it all alone, my habitats just way too vast i can only cover 1% of it in like 9 hours and that's just what's visible, it goes on for miles n miles.

Gonna end up bumping into other members at this rate if i keep going along the path, seen a guy mention rivington earlier and i can see it from here.

Try inbox people from your area/nearby or something? that's what i would do (if people didn't already inbox me cause they recognise my nickname, which happens a lot)  :likeaboss:

I don't know if this is really the place to post it, I guess I'll post it in that identification thread or whatever, too. But I came across this Publication It's a pdf, and it's a comprehensive list of where you'll fine liberty caps, what terrain is good, bad, what plants grow in areas with them in... You get me.I think it's definitely worth a look
I figured for new shroomers, like me, this would be a good place to start to avoide any unnecessary questions (i guess).

Safe
