Dear friends, managed to escape back to the patch today and was left with a face strewn with salty tears as the farmer had only been in and mowed the entire fucking field to shredS! Despite this setback and what was probably a severe massacre with much unceccesary suffering and many innocent little shroomies dead, I still managed to discover a noble clan of hardened warriors standing proud in the battlefield. And not only this my friends but more good news; amongst them were some genuine descendants of The Golden Mushroom Dynasty! Look at their beautiful little faces shining in the sun

Looking at the dry condition of the produce here I think we were pretty fortunate to get such an early start with those few days of July rain earlier in the week. I'll be keeping my eye on the upcoming forecast and looking forward to more wet weather. Hopefully the mowing will have spread the spores and the memory of the fallen shall not be in vain!
Happy hunting.

I checked my most prolific spot today, i spotted a few mushrooms when i first entered the area which got me a little excited but the field itself still had very dry and hard ground, not a lib in sight... which can only mean now it's time to enjoy the fruits of previous harvests

I've been out a couple of times looking for Agaricus species in a cow field where they fruited prolifically a couple of years ago at this time and at this point I'd say it's way too dry still. Where i live anyway. Clearly in higher altitudes this is not the case.

Good to see this thread, i often find that fresh shrooms from this early time of the year give totaly different trips to ones later in the season ... anybody else feel this ?
