Exactly what I thought! Cycled up to my usual spot at the beginning of August to see a few popping out, was very surprised to say the least. Thought I'd best leave it a few weeks before going up though, give 'em a chance to expand their family . Had my first picking session of the year last Sunday, yielding 160+ in an hour, been up another two times since then. Can't wait until mid September for the cream of the crop! Good vibes indeed :mushroom2:

Hey people, first post here, long time lurker!
This is my 4th season I've been picking, considering myself pretty damn confident with identification. However, yesterday I came across a few mushies that looked really very similar in almost all regards, only thing that made them seem off was their very rounded & puffy-ish cap. Upon further research they could possibly be panaeolus foenisecii, but thought I'd get some of your opinions.
Third photo has some definite Libs in there for comparison.

Note how the gills are really straight underneath and inline with the cap, now you know the characteristics you shouldn't get confused again, these are wet and sticky when fresh and like this when dry, they get quite a bit bigger than libs, seen some very large and heavy ones.

there's not much else to get confused with now you've locked down these and pan's, pan's have more of a matte cap than libs, they seem to stay the same colour, sometimes they have cracked caps or skirts, but you got some libs there so you clearly know what you're looking for, that semiglobata should be easy now

West Pennine moores, quite a big stretch but can't give specifics against forum rules ^^

Most of it is like that though, hills go on for like 90 square miles

thank you, I didn't want any spec location, just love that view

Is this a Liberty Cap? Found in the Highlands of Scotland in a sheep field.

I am a first time shroomer and I cannot freakin' wait for them to start popping up. I've been looking this past week in fields and such, but no luck.

Also, I'm curious, how much does altitude actually matter? My area is on average 150m above sea level (just searching on google maps). But I've been reading that 300m is a good starting point - basically the higher the better

In this case it just means that conditions are favourable at higher elevations sooner in the season than at low. So there are two options: wait for conditions to become favourable where you live, or travel to where they are favourable.

Yeah..im actually in Ireland and know 3 good places in my area for them.  One being in a housing estate and a lot of people have found this spot and ruined it from drawing too much attention. There is another spot close to there but I have been caught by the farmer who owns the field twice and he threatened to ring the police the next time so that place is also out of the question. My third place is a sports field and the libs usually dont appear here until later in the season.  So jealous of all of ye!!

Cant really go doing any mad hunting either because I live with my pregnant girlfriend who doesnt like being alone for too long...how sad. -.-

My sheep/cow fields are public paths which means your allowed to walk around it. This is good for me because I don't have to hide as much

The first few of the season today, 7 caps from a field that produces thousands in peak season, even with the recent rains the ground was still very hard, this field is flat as a pancake but seems to have great drainage, this is in the South East. I doubt i'll return til mid September, maybe even October depending on the weather. I always forget how much i love the smell of fresh liberty caps!

I would like somewhere like that where I can relax and pick without looking over my shoulder every ten seconds for the Gardaí.
Sometimes I think is it really worth a class A charge for just one little harmless shroom..

First hunt of 2015! Got about 45 in total. These were found at 300m in the South West.

Since this is only my second season of hunting, if you guys could give me your thoughts on these.  I'm 99% they're all libs, but as I am still relativity new to hunting, I don't want to get too cocky!

Not likely, been let off a couple of times they just chuck em down grid like they do with bud, even though the law says otherwise, they only seem to be interested in large scale cultivation of drugs, not really a couple of shrooms, you can get some that are dicks and try slam you for it but they probably wouldn't get far and they know it so they don't really bother going further, lot of money involved in charging for possession, it's not really worth it for them, totally worth it for you though.

I don't really mind choppers n cops that much, mithering people askin for spots are worse, cops don't bother really, stopped caring i think i just continue to pick them so no point i guess too much hassle

Shrooming should be legal, considering they're fucking everywhere anyway, like 'don't touch the sacred shrooms', we're not aztecs lmao.

Better than being legally pissed up in the street kickin' off.

All we're doing it walking through fields, going home n chilling, it's silly really.
