It's not, sorry, but keep looking and they will find you :mushroomgrow:

It actually looks nothing like a liberty cap, please read this.

Another successful weekend, scored 250+
Poor things were pretty dried out when I found them and wouldn't of lasted another day with the dry weather.

Woke up today to find the weather in Wales joyously miserable, hoping the rain will stop long enough for me to go for a "walk" later on.

Happy hunting!

Hello everyone! I'v been keeping up with this thread since it started, finding it very interesting, so I decided to join the forum and go out for my very first hunt.

I managed to find 20, they were located in a cow field but I'm not 100% they're liberty caps but I'm chuffed nonetheless to have found some!

Yesterday it rained all day, but today the sun has been really warm, too warm for libs from what I've read. Most of the shrooms I found were quite dry already but still had a slight dampness to them.

Pic below if anyone can help! I have done research and I'm confident there's a few in there but I could be wrong, thanks for the help

We have some nice rain heading our way over the next few days, the temps will be a bit too high for low-land picking but we'll be cooling down quite fast.

The sst anomalies in the north Atlantic may be terrifying but should get a decent season out of it.

I thought it was too good to be true  better luck next time I guess  thanks for your help! A friend is showing me a known spot of his tomorrow so next time the weathers in my favour I'll  be out again!

Might I ask out of complete curiosity and to learn for next time, what details point out that they are pans compared to lib caps?

Lib identification:
Stems: are very very thin and tall and do not simply 'mush' when roughed up, the stems are almost but nowhere near wood-like, if you get me.
Cap: tan/golden/brown coloured with a distinct 'nipple' shape on top and often have a gooey 'pellicle' (a layer of goo basically).

The ones you posted are A) a wrong colour, hints of pink/reds with a grey background B) thicker mushier looking stemmed and C) no nipple D) No hint of blue bruising as is very common with liberty caps.

Nice bruising on those Libs!

I checked my lib field, no sign of any mushrooms, never mind any libs :feelsbadman:

Just as an update for the West Midlands - Finding more and more in this one field as time progresses, but outside of the borders of the one field I have found none. Special micro-climate I'm thinking. But since the season has started, between me and a mate we have probably found over 200 (after 3 or so short hunts) so not doing bad for mid-August!

If you're hunting in the peaks keep an eye on the weather, it can get bad, fast.

I give you the choice of 2 pills.

With each containing one of the following:
Cyanide... Psilocin... Would you take the risk?
Didn't think so.

This is why Positive Identification prior to consumption is important.
