Does anyone know any good locations in the North East to find liberty caps? Preferably near Durham

No quite the opposite hard ground frost will kill the mycelium and season ends
I once knew a girl (this was before I started picking) who said to me that libs start popping out after the first frost. She is experienced in picking and all sorts of psychs. I'm guessing she was no real friend...

If the frost is real light, i find it definitely pushes out more flushes (or it did so last year). When it melts towards mid day its another good soaking for the ground. Its just the thick frost when you can feel the crunch is the anti libs for sure.

Isn't it a coincidence that Halloween is synchronized with a peak of p. semilanceata season ?? Also, in other European countries this is the time when people visit graveyards to pay tributes to family members who passed away.
Is there any evidence which would prove that Halloween originated from a pagan mushroom cult?
I had this very conversation a few days ago so nice to see it is collective consciousness. Also interesting that it coincides with reduced hours of daylight. A natural pep me up against low light levels.
Finding a few libs here and there, not many mind you. I found 2 new places and both had libs in. Albeit in very low quantities about 4 in each new spot. Not sure what to make of that, places to check for the future I guess.
I have not been out much this year a much more relaxed approach to it all. Given I take 2 libs get massive anxiety, hollow feeling in chest/solar plexus, low blood sugar, nervy, freaked shaky kind of feeling/light headed which I am not sure comes from a direct physical/mental response to the psilocybin itself or if it is a learned response? been the same ever since form a bad trip 3 years ago. Weird. After about 1 hour though I am rewarded with zen like peace in mind and body, like super tranquility so I put up with the really unpleasant first hour for the 2-3 hours of nice thoughts and zen like calm.
I do wonder if I have developed some very strange hyper sensitivity to psilocybin. I boil 2 large libs and am frankly suprised how storng the effects are. I am a bit sensitive as a person, a bit of a dreamer and have a strong imagination so I don't know. Just wish I did not feel so unpleasant after taking them for the first hour. Kind of takes the joy out of my reflection on the good sides a bit.
Might go out in a week or 2 and check again. Enjoy the fruits all.

Envious of all the pics on this thread!! Been out about 5-6 times now in various fields/parks in Warwickshire but only managed to find 1 tiny lib! Hopefully with the fog a few will pop up in the next few days!

I get the same symptoms and have learned that higher doses are much more pleasant. Come-ups are not pleasant, body load is stressful, I agree.

Hi, All these were found today in the same spot as last week. They look a bit different to the last find so a positive ID from an expert would really be amazing.
Im pretty sure about 1-27 but unsure about the rest especially 36 and 39 which I'm sure aren't libs but ive got them just to make sure I'm not discarding the wrong type. Any help would be fantastic.
Thanks you! This forum has been a huge help to me although I haven't posted much. Im appreciative to all the regular posters that have contributed to most of my knowledge on the subject.

They all look good to me. Now try and get the smell taste and texture of them ingrained in your mind and you'll never need to ask 'are these libs' again.

Disaster strikes … So i went on Saturday to my spot in South Wales managed a great haul then on returning home i found our spare room i.e. where i dry had my mother in law over so wasn't able to start the drying until 4pm on Sunday … it seems it was too late nearly the whole haul had turned mushy stuck together and blackening so many good shrooms totally wasted … i have stuck them in my dehydrator last night but i think theres no going back now … they turned so quickly … has anyone made this mistake before should i just bin the lot or and are the storks worth saving as they don't look too bad ? one gutted school boy error kicking myself picker …

Thanks for the reply. I'm currently sitting here smelling them and checking through them all. I thought I'd cracked it last week but these were different I'm assuming because of the wet weather? Is there any mushroom I should be looking g out for that is very similar that I need to be wary of.
Going to get these dried and added to the rest of them and I have about 80 in total now. Hoping that's enough for a first time for two or three of us.
Thanks again!

36 is Panaeoulus. The rest look like Ps. semilanceata. Remember you can easily check for a separable gelatinous pellicle when they are fresh.

Check out this post for other mushrooms in the same habitat and one deadly one.

No. We know pretty much nothing about Celtic or Germanic pagan traditions.

Thank you! I've already discarded 36 as I was sure it wasn't a lib. Thanks for the advice and I'll have a look through that post now!
Hopefully by next season I'll be completely sure what I'm looking for. How long does everyone reckon we have left? I'm thinking of trying this spot again next week... Although I'm sure I haven't left much behind today, what's the chances more will grow in a weeks time?
