Careful for galerina species.

Other than that, all good, post pics we will identify (y)

With each containing one of the following:
Cyanide... Psilocin... Would you take the risk?
Didn't think so.

Hi everyone,

I went picking in Wales today, conditions were ideal, sheep run around freely, the ground was wet but the weather was warm and sunny, found about 100 lib caps with the very pointy nipple and some others that I just can't figure out what they are exactly... They do seem to have some sort of a nipple shape but it is a lot more subtle. Here are some photos, below. I have tried to compare them with existing finds in this thread but can't quite figure it out myself!

As well as those:

And those:

Any thoughts?
Thanks guys!

M.

It definitely helps to be well informed on what to look for. In any case you can have any thing you may find I'D here. The species is not actually native to the UK so your chances of finding them in a forest would be slim. The spores have been transported here in wood chip and mulch imported for resale from over seas hence why they are becoming so common in all of these man made plant beds where they are laying tons of wood chip.

Galerina is the only thing I'd be scared of really. May as well learn the traits of it. I already taught myself how to spot deathcaps/destroying angels so Galerina will be good to know too

@Mergana , look like lots of panaeolus (specifically pan paps, the nipple ones) and some mycena sp.

After researching it, they do look very similar yes! So is that a "throw it all away" type of situation or are some of them good too?

Just chuck them away but don't chuck away the knowledge and consider this as a learning experience

There was a lovely array of different shapes and sizes today and after five hours picking I got over 6 oz wet so maybe 25g or just under an oz dry...

Mushrooms are ~92% water so dependent on how wet they were you might get 15-16g dry.
Out of interest, could you let us know the dry weight, as a comparison, as I've never  weighed wet libs.

Did your dehydrator come with only one tray? When I dry cubes I try to lay them out so that none of them touch.

As for the gnat topic, that's just me letting my mind wander.
I don't know enough about the internal workings of a gnat or their larvae, to know wether or not they have a digestive system, let alone one that spores could survive going through.
:shudder:

I find all forms of mushrooms and fungi fascinating. I highly recommend watching this BBC documentary "The Magic of Mushrooms", very interesting.

It's on BBC iPlayer here:

Good shout CB, I just watched that, fascinating

I would strongly recommend anyone who uses this site should watch that documentary, even those in the US that use the other threads. I see P.Stammets makes an appearance on there too.

Nice one

PsyMindz86, looks like your probably right about the gnats being of instrumental use to the reproduction of the shrooms...maybe I just bare a grudge because they are a pain in the ass when growing weed hydroponically, once they are in the root mass there's not really anyway to get them out. Ah and the vodka is a gift to someone. My girlfriend is a bourbon drinker and myself it's red wine, proper cider and home brewed ales hehe I like a little drink.

Deucedbi9-  funnily enough they now weigh 15.56g cracker dry lol bang on mate! The dehydrator came with multiple trays I'm just lazy I guess and can't be bothered to spread them out, by the time I get home after picking I still need to cook dinner and feed the dogs and so on....once they were dry they were all totally stuck together mind in a perfect ring so maybe next time I will spread them out over multiple trays....

Psymindz86, your ethos on picking I think is really good. If I'm honest I've been pretty ruthless this year but in my defence there is a bloke who is picking everything he sees there daily. If we all did what you do I reckon libs would come back strong again. I'll probably not be picking for long though, I've got some degeneratetive muscle crap going on and I've already over done it this year trecking about so I'm going to focus more on cultivation and maybe getting a patch of cyans growing in my front garden  I reckon I've got two more seasons picking before I'd need a quad or something lol

lol,so - coming down from an intense dmt like manuscript of nature (4th trip so far been spreaded out nice like)... when coming down I love that feeling - pure masculinity it gives ya like u ready for fighting and survival, get taught hoe to move like birds and insects - after a mass bundle of liquid like aluminium visuals coated in some mechanized language thru love light from the stars - ie suns language - natures code I suspect - either way tho I feel ready to take a some lions or sum shit hahaha - to add to the point electrical spiritual organic energy becomes visible above the skin (this happens everytime so proof that its real).... eyes become pin point focused on this tattoo like stuff - our natural primal look perhaps

they  onset is faster if pregrind them , saves the gut time... 80 odd took me by surprise so carful people :mushroom2::rasta::thumbup: big fuking smile on my face though... face muscles aint been used in a while :grin:

psilocybin/dmt - is natures communication device that informs the ALL and ONE
- I think...... ponder - it seems to re enforce and clean the electrical central nervous systems .... like a digital code pre programed that's emanating from a source..... clearly!

What's your mindset around the muscle thing? How long ago did you get diagnosed?

Worth a look in the fields tomorrow? Rained a fair bit recently and had a little bit of grass frost last night. Any advice for timing? Last went to that spot last friday and never seen anyone else there, so will be mature hopefully.

Where in Suffolk are you based?
