Hi guys, yesterday I came across what I believe are psilocybe semilanceata, i found them in Cumbria/Yorkshire Dales in a sheep field shadowed by a sharp slope and managed to find 160 of them. I was hoping somebody would be kind enough to help confirm that they are liberty caps and not an impostor that might make me sick, I have ingested liberty caps before on 2 occasions though I've never picked them, i'm fairly confident I have the real deal but it'd be foolish not to get the opinions of people in the know.

I've added the pics to an imgur gallery below:

Liberty Caps Phone Pics

One I wonder about is the one in the middle of the top row on the 5th image, it has a darker reddish stem, the majority are unlike this. Again thanks guys.

They all look like liberty caps, the one with darker stem could be Panaeolus foenisecii. Nothing poisonous anyway.

Deciding to go out picking on Friday. I set off on my trusty steed (i.e. mountain bike) heading for one of my spots, and had quite a funny encounter...

Getting to this particular spot involves cycling up a fairly long and steepish hill, which ends at a reservoir. Upon arriving at the reservoir, I spotted 3 young lads clearly doing what I'd set out to do. All three were poking around in the grass at the side of the res looking for our favourite little mushies.

Being a fairly unfit 30 something bloke, I was a bit winded and so decided to stop for a rest to catch my breath before carrying on. When the young lads spotted me stood a little way away, they all stopped looking for the bounty, sat down on the grass and started messing with their phones, clearly feeling a bit sheepish and worried that I might not approve of their activities!

This gave me a good giggle (given that I was there to do exactly the same thing), so after letting them sweat for another minute or so :-) I went over and told them not to stop on my behalf as I was also there to collect the little blighters :-)

Anyway, we had a bit of a chat, I tried to pass on some advice around being careful with doses etc and made sure they were looking for the right type of mushroom (which they were - they'd already collected about 6 libs or so). They hadn't been that successful so far, so I pointed them in the direction of a spot nearby that had been pretty successful for me a couple of weeks earlier, it was also a little more private as where they were picking before has a footfall of about 20 - 30 people per hour (i.e. pretty easy to get spotted).

Anyway, I left the young fellas to get on with it and (now that I'd recovered) carried on up into the wilderness to see what I could find.

All in all, it wasn't a bad day. I was out and about for 4 hours or so and managed to collect about 220, which I'm hoping will dry down to about 15 - 20gs.

Here are the little blighters airing / drying:

Here they are ready for bedtime with desiccant:

I think at the altitudes I'm looking it might start to get dry now. I tend to go out quite far and high to avoid detection:

It didn't look like there were many new flushes growing, and most of the libs I found were pretty old. I'm planning to have another look next weekend, if it seems similarly dry I'm going to start looking at lower altitudes to see if that's any more successful.

Good luck everyone.

How far south are you Mr Rorymac? I'm in Bristol and am doing ok after the rains...so much so that I've decided I should reach my target of 48g dry (one 4g trip once a month for a year) and along with my upcoming grow hopefully I won't be short so I'm going for 3.7g lemon tek tonight even though it's only been two weeks since my last trip. Very naughty. Spent so long getting my cultivation kit built today it seems a bit rude not to....

Thanks for that Blazey. I'd asked for an ID of these in another thread. Someone suggested they might be Panaeolus papilionaceus, which appear almost identical to Panaeolus acuminatus to me.

In any case, I discarded them before drying as I knew they weren't libs.

No problem  and yeah they do look a bit like paps just slight differences on the visual side, acuminatus tends to be a lot darker on the stipe, the gills are whiter on the edges of paps where acuminatus tends to emit a more purple hue

Well it all went horribly wrong lol it seemed like 3.82g wasn't enough to get into the level 5 area, not even level 4 I don't think. It came on very fast which I don't mind as I was ready and the visuals were more intense than previous trips for a while but I felt very lucid through out the whole thing and couldn't slow my mind at all. One of my dogs kept stealing all the space on the sofa and just at the point that I thought I could start meditating a bit he made a puking noise which sent my mind into a shitty place and I got quite upset, eventually I realised the noise had triggered a memory from earlier in the year when one of my dogs died suddenly and at this point I burst out crying

After a while I but my playlist on and John Hammonds Naidine started playing which sorted me right out, well kind of. I also kept getting this really weird feeling, like a shudder through my whole body and a load split second ringing in the ears and after it felt like my eardrums nearly burst of my head nearly blew up.....feck knows. Anyway woke up feeling very irritable, down and like I really dislike most people as they are mean and thoughtless. Not what I was hoping for really so I'll give it a couple weeks or a month and try 4.2g which is the dose that first showed me the univers a month back. I am curious why my mind took me where it did and why the shrooms chose not to teach me anything this time... In the mean time I might brew up some Ayahuasca and see if that goes any better.
