Two Ganoderma species growing on the same tree.
    #22003464 - 07/27/15 08:57 AM (8 years, 6 months ago)

A user on reddit found these two Ganoderma species growing on the same tree, only inches from each other.

Good evidence that two totally different species can occupy the same basic space, leading to confusion in species clarification.

The top is Ganoderma curtisii, the bottom is Ganoderma lobatum. G.curtisii is related to the Asian lingzhi, G.lobatum is related to G.applanatum.

That's awesome how they're not fighting over same spot.  Do you think they eventually will clash or will they both just cooperate in decomposing the tree?

I think they will co-operate, I think this kind of relationship might be common in Ganoderma they also seem to do very well alongside Trametes species.
