Over the last few days my friend has noticed a rust color developing on one of his cakes. The thing is, it doesn't seem to be growing. It looks more like a discoloration. It could be rust actually. My friend has taken to putting a sterile stick pin in the top of the cake after each dunk to keep track of the number of flushes. This cakes has two pins so it's on it's second flush. I'll try and post a picture tomarow. I'm plannig on taking my web cam over to his house, but it's a shitty quality so it probably wont help much. Any ideas??? Thanks!

If it grows it's alive. I doubt it's alive if it's on a completely colonized cake, but if it's growing on uncolonized substrate it could be a rust. Most rusts are phytopathogenic, though, not mycopathogenic. Prolly just shit that got on the cake.
