pre-existing medical condition??
    #22003190 - 07/27/15 07:28 AM (8 years, 6 months ago)

so i have an apt with a hand surgeon tomorrow but I'm looking for temporary insurance to cover it.  I know i'm gonna need surgery at the cost of 7-10k. Obviously I dont have that kind of money sitting around.  I was looking at a policy but I don't qualify because I've been treated for alcoholism and substance abuse.

A lot of insurance companies wont take you if you have a pre-existing condition, I havent been seen by a doctor yet but after tomorrow it will be documented and probably an automatic no from that point forward I'm guessing.

Does anybody know where I can get insurance, and if this would be considered a "pre-existing" condition?

This is seriously stressing me the fuck out.  I will go into debt to repair this fucker if I have to, but I am finally starting to get my head above ground.  I know God doesnt want people to get bored but come on.  Gimme a fucking break dude, damn.

Unlikely.  I don't know of any insurance plans that you can sign up for only when you need them.  That totally defeats the purpose of insurance.

my medical insurance kicks in sept 10th.  But I will have a very high deductable to meet before they pay for anything other than routine or preventative care.  I also get bumped to salary so hopefully I'll have a little more wiggle room then, but I have mass tickets and a DUI (they gave me the maximum fine possible) to pay.

Try care credit its basically a credit card. Sometimes the hospital will work with you if they know you dont have insurance. My dad had a stent put in his heart and they cut the bill in half because he didnt have insurance.

Just wait until you get insurance and wait a little then go to the hospital if you're going to commit insurance fraud.

help me out, you make big bucks right?  You've got money.

"Patients usually have good results when suture repair is done within four weeks after the injury. After surgery, pain and stiffness are usually minimal, and thumb strength will normally return.

The joint feels painful when pinching or grasping and is generally weak. Most of the time, chronic instability tends to happen when the patient doesn't get treatment"

tomorrow will be one month after the injury.  basically I have a three week window or im fucked.  I cant afford to wait any longer.

Put a carrot in your ass and start a GoFundMe for medical bills.

Hospitals cannot deny you care for lack of insurance, I'm pretty sure they cannot FORCE you legally to pay either.

Perfect example of why in this capitalist society everyone NEEDS to have helath insurance. Because no matter who you are or how healthy youve been. Eventually youll need health care. Hope you can find coverage and dont go temporary what if you have complications a year later. Once you find someone that will carry you stay. I suggest one of the new state based plans. The affordable health care act should stop insurance companies from excluding you for a pre exsisting condition. I hope it all goes well.

I will pay, and Im not looking for handouts or to scam anybody.  I just can not afford to pay 10 grand right now.  I need a skilled hand surgeon because I work with my hands.  Its very important it be done right.  I dont want to have to get it fused later, I wont be able to earn a living and i dont want to live in chronic pain.

I get 20% off if I pay up front, and they dont do payment plans.  Cash at time of service.  they would take half and then do a payment plan, but if im going to do that i may as well pay it all and get a discount.

If you have a job and make money you are paying the bill for yourself and all the welfare cases.  If you don't you suck and are a parasite.  sprinkles has more self respect than that.

Yeah right. It doesn't seem to be self respect that's keeping him from getting medical advice and treatment, which may cause him to become a future welfare recipient due to disabling complications arising from untreated injuries, it is the fear of the expence of a fully 'for profit' health care system, much of which expence is frittered away on office wallah's in the health insurence industry, most of whom aren't qualified to stick a plaster on your fucking arse, getting between you and those that are.

what wonderful country are you from?  get me a damn green card if your medical care is so amazing.

Im bringing my own X-rays.  Im sure they are far better than any they will do.  Normally they dont show soft tissue injuries and all you can see is swelling, but Im fucking good and it's definitely there. Hopefully that will save me some money unless they want an MRI.

They should be able to make a clear diagnosis just looking at, without having to do any god awful stress tests.  I should take a picture of this nasty thing.  i think i will in a few.

i always thought that broken bones heal on their own. unless there is some kind of nerve damage or something specific needing to be done, i didn't think surgery was of much assistance in broken bone scenarios. mostly they just resest the bones in place, put a cast on it and let it heal on its own. all broken bones heal. i know a guy who broke his forearm and didn't wear his cast properly or i dunno, he fucked it up somehow and now his forearm literally has a bit of a strange bend in it, but hes fine. it healed on its own without any surgery or anything

why does it need surgery??

unless im mistaken i believe the OP broke their thumb or something at the joint, so the joint is all fucked up too.

also with "hand" breaks to get them lined up im not sure you can just simply set them, i think you have to put pins n shit in them to hold them straight

ahh yep, that makes sense actually. thats probably true yeah. probably needs plates and all that to keep it in place and heal properly. i mean i guess the hand is filled with lots of tiny intricate bones so it probably needs more care then a fibia/tibia kind of thing, plus the joint as well.

man if i was a chick i reckon i'd probably suck cock for rock i mean. as a guy i literally don't have the option. but fuck it ill blow a dude for an 8 ball of shards i aint even mad
