pre-existing medical condition??

so i have an apt with a hand surgeon tomorrow but I'm looking for temporary insurance to cover it. I know i'm gonna need surgery at the cost of 7-10k. Obviously I dont have that kind of money sitting around. I was looking at a policy but I don't qualify because I've been treated for alcoholism and substance abuse.
A lot of insurance companies wont take you if you have a pre-existing condition, I havent been seen by a doctor yet but after tomorrow it will be documented and probably an automatic no from that point forward I'm guessing.
Does anybody know where I can get insurance, and if this would be considered a "pre-existing" condition?
This is seriously stressing me the fuck out. I will go into debt to repair this fucker if I have to, but I am finally starting to get my head above ground. I know God doesnt want people to get bored but come on. Gimme a fucking break dude, damn.

Unlikely. I don't know of any insurance plans that you can sign up for only when you need them. That totally defeats the purpose of insurance.

my medical insurance kicks in sept 10th. But I will have a very high deductable to meet before they pay for anything other than routine or preventative care. I also get bumped to salary so hopefully I'll have a little more wiggle room then, but I have mass tickets and a DUI (they gave me the maximum fine possible) to pay.

Try care credit its basically a credit card. Sometimes the hospital will work with you if they know you dont have insurance. My dad had a stent put in his heart and they cut the bill in half because he didnt have insurance.

I never go to the doctor. shut the fuck up. I have two broken bones in this hand already, and I refused to go for each of them. In fact, I ALWAYS refuse medical treatment. And I pay fucking taxes and into health insurance for years. You can go eat a pile of shit.

Just wait until you get insurance and wait a little then go to the hospital if you're going to commit insurance fraud.

help me out, you make big bucks right? You've got money.
"Patients usually have good results when suture repair is done within four weeks after the injury. After surgery, pain and stiffness are usually minimal, and thumb strength will normally return.
The joint feels painful when pinching or grasping and is generally weak. Most of the time, chronic instability tends to happen when the patient doesn't get treatment"
tomorrow will be one month after the injury. basically I have a three week window or im fucked. I cant afford to wait any longer.

Put a carrot in your ass and start a GoFundMe for medical bills.
Hospitals cannot deny you care for lack of insurance, I'm pretty sure they cannot FORCE you legally to pay either.

Perfect example of why in this capitalist society everyone NEEDS to have helath insurance. Because no matter who you are or how healthy youve been. Eventually youll need health care. Hope you can find coverage and dont go temporary what if you have complications a year later. Once you find someone that will carry you stay. I suggest one of the new state based plans. The affordable health care act should stop insurance companies from excluding you for a pre exsisting condition. I hope it all goes well.

I will pay, and Im not looking for handouts or to scam anybody. I just can not afford to pay 10 grand right now. I need a skilled hand surgeon because I work with my hands. Its very important it be done right. I dont want to have to get it fused later, I wont be able to earn a living and i dont want to live in chronic pain.

I get 20% off if I pay up front, and they dont do payment plans. Cash at time of service. they would take half and then do a payment plan, but if im going to do that i may as well pay it all and get a discount.

I'm sure I could, but not as large a pile as you are being forced to eat due to your being born in America. Sucks to be an 'first world' American citizen sometimes dont it.
