Taxes from Marijuana in Colorado support the salaries of about 2500 government employees

if you do the math and assume $50,000 average salary, pot Sales alone support about 2500 jobs. Not even including decreased need for police, correction officers, judges, attorneys, etc.

I got a better idea. Send the money back to the taxpayers. Fuck the government workers.

There is a need for government workers. Might as well use the money people would spend on weed regardless to pay for some of them

You do know that the job of every government employee is not to bust you and ruin your fun? In fact Colorado probably doesn't even have a department of rape. I have to go to city hall tomorrow and renew some permits. If it's the difference between a 10 minute wait or an hour wait I am all for hiring more of them. It costs people money and lost productivity if they have to wait all day to get a rubber stamp on a document. There are dudes there tapping their feet waiting while they have crew outside and equipment running. Having the process sped up actually saves private industry a lot of money. And the best part would be if you don't smoke pot you didn't even have to pay any taxes for these new workers. You guys would really rather have a huge line at the DMV rather than have some "sin taxes" go to making it faster?

It's the idea that the gov't can get it's hands in to your business transactions that is the message I don't particularly care that they're exploiting weed prices and short changing the staff. Aren't you supposed to get that stuff with your health insurance? No? Hmmm

I think pot prices should be higher then what they would be in a true free market. People would be smoking themselves retarded if it was under $100 an oz. Theres a link on www.marijuanataxtracker.com saying how the prices are falling as of late

somehow you're under the impression that government puts money to good use such as hiring more people to sit around and do nothing, hiring people to facilitate arrests, hiring people to devise new ways of taxing you and even more still to enforce tax collection, we open more prisons and close down the old ones and why is this? because when there's a genuine surplus shown in the budget people want taxes lowered which means the government wont have as much to spend next year....
let's take one beneficial slice of the pie, Education, now let me ask, what the fuck does football, basket ball and other extra curricular activities have to do with actually getting an education. sure, they can try the no pass/no play shit and sometimes it works but it's limited, now let me ask, does a high school football team really need a new mega stadium? something that cost $7 million to build? do they really need a $60mil stadium? how is that benefitting education?

do they need the $50 million swim complex to make better educated fish? this is where the government spends these new tax revenues, once more, they do it so they can have larger budget, hundreds of billions spent each year just in education in this country and we have a ranking around 34? why the fuck is that?
oh yeah... because you think they'll actually staff some fucking offices when a few salaries do fuckall for eating a budget

That's an interesting equation.
Go to kid day care, upgrade to adult day care, and die in a senior care facility.
Hooray for living life in a succession of supervised buildings!
