Is this a normal mushroom ?
    #21999016 - 07/26/15 09:22 AM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Hi, I found this specimen in woods close to the coast (Finland) in mossy ground under Alnus and Birch. I thought that the proportions of cap and foot and general the general morphology was a bit abnormal, but maybe there are species with this shape?

Would do you think it is please?

It is a Cortinarius species.... It probably rained alot and then was in some good heat and just grew so fast the cap started to split.

Yes, your observation is very true for this part of Finland. I accept Cortinarius sp. too. Last year I found C. caperatus in these whereabouts, perhaps its a close guess.

Thanks
