    #21998389 - 07/26/15 04:08 AM (8 years, 6 months ago)

Hey guys, made up this soil mix for my San Pedro & Bridgesii, does this sound alright?

1 part Coir
2 part Cacti Potting Mix
1 part Cactus Sand
1.5 parts Perlite

Also added in some lime as recommended then put a top layer of scoria.

Here's a pic of them

In my experience cacti potting mix is rubbish and full of chunks of wood that can cause rot problems. I sieved a bag of cacti potting mix and over half of it was wood chunks. On the other hand, sieving a refular potting mix only gave me about 1/5 wood chunks to take out.

If you sieved the cacti mix it should be fine though. Trichs are hardy anyways and depending on climate you can get away with alot. Also, if those pots are outdoor I think you can take way the underplate so they drain better.

Thanks for the advice, I didn't sieve the cacti mix but I didn't see much in the way of large pieces of debris, so hopefully the other parts of the mix will be enough to keep them happy
