From what I understand, the best thing to do is separate the little shoots that come up from the base of the plant since they should have some roots on them already when they come up. AFAIK, they are pretty difficult to root traditionally.
Never tried myself, so I really don't know though.

I had always had significant trouble propagating khat by cutting unless using rooting hormone. I obtained the specimen I had (note i said past tense) via cutting from an old-timer-guy who owned an herb farm and showed me his private collection. It had some partial roots on it already and took to the soil I placed it in quite easily. Over the years it died back and was unrecoverable. I had on occasion gotten some growth of tender branches (i.e. not-yet hardened/lignified) to grow some roots with rooting hormone kept in a semi-humid environment. Never found another source of a domestic catha cutting unfortunately. And that old man is either dead or in jail (i think he was a child molester).
btw, good to see this place (EG) is still up and alive and even thriving

^ root hormone is a must. i would get the clonex gel.

this is a decent horticultural guide to taking different kinds of cuttings and rooting them. i would start with the second listing, the "leaf-petiole" one second one down.

Leaf petiole cuttings will not work on C. edulis. It's a useful link though.

Holy shit! I haven't seen you post here in ages and a day. It's nice to see you posting again. I hope you stay for a while.

Anyway....
Like others have said it's hard to root them or impossible to root them from cutting. Propagation via root sucker division is the preferred method. Suckers are adventitious shoots that arise from the root ball. Basically a shoot from the roots that you can remove and pot up once they grow some roots of their own.
Here's a guide I did for that that explains the process>>>https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/20909793
In saying all that I notice that your plant has some long branches sprawled across the soil. Another way to propagate Khat is via Ground layering. I trialed this last year and all branches successfully grew roots. I think this method is one way for you to expand your collection.
Here's a basic link. Search for more information or ask questions here.>>>>http://horticulture.tekura.school.nz/plant-propagation/plant-propagation-3/ht1093-plant-propagation-3-study-plan/layering/
