Aerial and fluffy mycelium before full colonization
    #21998245 - 07/26/15 01:52 AM (8 years, 6 months ago)

I currently have 2 66qt monotubs about 6 days into colonization. Whole oats to coir/verm/gypsum. Holes on monotub are taped shut. In first two days the mycelium exploded, but has since slowed down. Not stopped, but slowed. Showing good signs of moisture from what I can tell. Shorly after I had noticed aerial mycelium in spots, which have now spread throughout the surface of the sub. There are also fluffy balls of mycelium, both of which I have read are signs of the tub being ready to fruit, but theyre probably less than 50% colonized. The surface of the sub is mostly colonized, but the rest is not.
Could the aerial mycelium and slowed growth be a sign of lack of FAE? Should I remove tape from a hole and stuff it with polyfil? Will provide pictures as soon as possible.

Best I can do without opening the tub. This is my first bulk grow but as far as I can tell the mycelium looks healthy.. The sub may be a little over hydrated, but I'm mainly worried about the aerial mycelium and FAE.. Are monotubs supposed to be able to "breathe"? Because prior to taping the holes and spawning my grains, I was under the impression you wanted your tubs sealed, that the air inside was sufficient for colonization...

The Co2 quickly builds back up. Opening it wont hurt
